Deadline July 6th for SBA working capital loans due to drought
Director Tanya N. Garfield of the U.S. Small Business
Administration’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West
today reminded small nonfarm businesses in six Montana
counties and neighboring counties in North Dakota of the
July 6, 2021, deadline to apply for an SBA federal disaster
loan for economic injury. These low-interest loans are to
offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused
by drought in the following primary counties that began
Sept. 15, 2020.
Primary Montana counties: Roosevelt and Sheridan;
neighboring Montana counties: Daniels, McCone,
Richland and Valley; neighboring North Dakota counties:
Divide, McKenzie and Williams.
According to Garfield, small nonfarm businesses,
small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged
in aquaculture and most private nonprofit organizations of
any size may apply for Economic Injury Disaster Loans of
up to $2 million to help meet working capital needs caused
by the disaster.
“Economic Injury Disaster Loans may be used to
pay fixed debts, payroll, accounts payable and other bills
that cannot be paid because of the disaster’s impact,” said
Garfield.
ADVERTISEMENT FOR BIDS
The Valley County Refuse Disposal District No. 1 of Valley
County, Montana, will accept sealed bids for the operation of a
County wide solid waste roll-off container system to transport
the wastes deposited in the various containers to the landfill
located near Glasgow, Montana. Bids will be accepted at the
Valley County Commissioner’s office at the Valley County
Courthouse, 501 Court Square #1, Glasgow, Montana 59230
until 5:00 pm local time, Monday June 21, 2021. Bids will be
opened and read aloud at 10:00 am, Tuesday June 22, 2021,
in the Valley County Commissioner office of the Valley County
Courthouse. The contract is multi-year.
Bids shall be accompanied by a bid security meeting the
requirements as specified in the BID GUARANTY of the
INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS in the amount of ten percent
(10%) of the total bid. The successful Bidder shall furnish an
approved Performance Bond as specified in the GENERAL
CONDITIONS.
The Contractor shall comply with all fair labor practices and
must meet the requirements of all State and Federal statutes
and regulations that govern the hauling of solid waste.
The Contractor must have a Class D (PSC) Permit at the
time of submitting a bid.
No Bidder may withdraw his bid for at least eighty-five (85)
days after the scheduled time for receipt of bids, except as
noted in the Instruction to Bidders.
The Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids.
“SBA eligibility covers both the economic impacts
on businesses dependent on farmers and ranchers that
have suffered agricultural production losses caused by the
disaster and businesses directly impacted by the disaster.
Economic injury assistance is available regardless of
whether the applicant suffered any property damage,”
Garfield added.
The interest rate is 3 percent for businesses and 2.75
percent for private nonprofit organizations with terms up
to 30 years. Loan amounts and terms are set by SBA and are
based on each applicant’s financial condition.
By law, SBA makes Economic Injury Disaster Loans
available when the U.S. Secretary of Agriculture designates
an agricultural disaster. The Secretary declared this disaster
on Nov. 6, 2020.
Businesses primarily engaged in farming or ranching
are not eligible for SBA disaster assistance. Agricultural
enterprises should contact the Farm Services Agency
about the U.S. Department of Agriculture assistance made
available by the Secretary’s declaration. However, nurseries
are eligible for SBA disaster assistance in drought disasters.
Applicants may apply online, receive additional
disaster assistance information and download applications
at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/. Applicants
may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800)
659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for
more information on SBA disaster assistance. Individuals
who are deaf or hard of hearing may call (800) 877-8339.
