A Special Winter Activity

Tell a story about a special winter activity you’ve done

in the past. Choose an activity that will be interesting
for your reader to hear about. Make sure that it’s a
small moment that focuses on the events that took
place during the activity.

Creative Narrative
Snow Day!

School is cancelled! Write a fictional story about a

group of friends who experience something special or
exciting during an unexpected day off of school. Make
sure that you have 2-3 strong fictional characters. Tell
their thoughts and feelings, so we get to know each
character in the story.

Explanatory

Opinion
Snow Day Homework

Should students have homework on snow days? Many

people like the idea of kids working on academics when
they can’t go to school, while others think that kids
should be able to relax and enjoy the day with their
families. Brainstorm both the “yes” and the “no” reasons
for students having homework on snow days. Then,
write an opinion piece telling which option you support
and why.

Yes No
