Present perfect continuous.

A News Report

Gives good practice of present perfect simple and continuous (and the passive).

SS hear an authentic news report to identify examples of these tenses.

SS then write a news report of their own to be put on tape (or on video).

“Good morning/evening/afternoon, it’s ___o’clock and here is the news from

London….”.

Controlled practice/drills

Ss are provided with visual prompts (photos, flashcards) and T elicits sentences
based on present evidence.

Eg) The ground outside is wet It’s been raining

Hands dirty Work in garden

Very tired Work all night

Sticky hands Eat chocolate

Photos and Pictures

There are also many commercially available materials showing what people ‘have
been doing’. SS look at the pictures and write a sentence in present perfect
continuous.

Eg) He’s been playing tennis.

She’s been gardening. Etc.
