Hey! My name is Fernando. I’m an enthusiast about animals. I’m planning a trip
to Snowy Cocuy (Boyaca Department) for a Snow experience. Have a look to the
checklist for my trip!

Vaccination and Immunization

Visit the doctor to check my vaccines.
Plan my vaccination schedule - At least three month prior to my trip.
Get a vaccine certificate.
Arrival
Recognition of the Place – Location: Central Park, Cocuy (Boyaca

Clothes
Get cold boots.
Get jacket, wool hat, scarf and gloves.
Get sunglasses. (For the reflection of the Sun in the snow)
Money and payment
I need Cash.

GuiónI’m going to Snowy Cocuy soon! Let me describe my “Snow trip”
checklist to you.

My checklist includes five important aspects. The first, and most important
one, is Vaccination and immunization. To climb the Snowy Cocuy, I must go
through very low areas, plains, swamps and there are many mosquitoes and
insects and is important to be vaccinated to prevent diseases. I also need to
check that I have all the common vaccines (the ones you usually get as a
child). For that reason, I have to visit the doctor to check my record and plan
a vaccination schedule (in case I need it) at least three months before my
departure. The second point on my list is the arrival.

The Cocuy village hasn't hotel, only a little place called "The Cabin" so I need
to arrive to the Central Park and recognition the town. The people from the
village is very friendly and they can help me if I have a difficulty. In addition, I
need to make sure I have the appropriate clothing for Snowy Cocuy. Cocuy
is a Village to Elevation 3800 m so days are very cold and there is a lot of
winds. For that reason, I need to buy several jackets, wool hat, gloves,
scarfs, boots and sunglasses. The fourth point on my list is money. I need
cash to buy food, clothes and stay in the cabin, in the holiday season many
people go to Scalar the snow and the prices of all things increase, I must
carry a credit card in case I run out of cash.

Finally, there is one important thing to consider. That is the contact with
animals during the climb. I cannot interfere with their natural behavior. It can
be very dangerous because in the Snowy, Among the fauna present in there
are: the tapir, araguatos, deer, the spectacled bear, the puma and all the
felids registered for Colombia.

Among the birds, there are species such as the Andean condor and the
eagles. I haven't to get away from the group without consulting a guide.
There are usually lots of wild animals around and it is better to prevent
attacks.
