* CALL TO WORSHIP (Psalm 95:6-7)

Pastor: Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation
All: Let us come before him with rejoicing,
and extol him with music and song.

* OPENING HYMN 715 Rejoice, the Lord Is King DARWALL’S 148th

1. Rejoice, the Lord is King! Your Lord and King adore;
mortals, give thanks and sing, and triumph evermore.
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
rejoice; again I say, rejoice.
2. Jesus the Savior reigns, the God of truth and love;
when he had purged our stains, he took his seat above.
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
rejoice; again I say, rejoice.
3. His kingdom cannot fail; he rules o'er earth and heaven;
the keys of earth and hell are to our Jesus given.
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
rejoice; again I say, rejoice.
4. Rejoice in glorious hope! Jesus the Judge shall come,
and take his servants up to their eternal home.
We soon shall hear th'archangel's voice;
the trump of God shall sound, rejoice!

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (The Apostles’ Creed)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
and in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried; the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven, and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

* GLORIA PATRI 70 MEINEKE

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be,
world without end. Amen. Amen.

CALL TO PRAYER Dr. Daniel Rupp
When we gather to praise God,
we remember that we are people who have preferred our wills to his.
Accepting his power to become new persons in Christ, let us go to God in prayer.

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER
O God, our Guide and Guardian,
you have led us from the busy world into the quiet of your house.
Grant us grace to worship you in Spirit and in truth, to the comfort of our souls
and the building up of every good and holy desire. Enable to do more perfectly
what you have called us to do. May we worship you not only with our lips during this
hour, but also in word and deed all the days of our lives; through Jesus Christ our Savior.
Amen.

PASTORAL PRAYER

THE LORD’S PRAYER

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil,
for Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

* DOXOLOGY 95 OLD 100th

Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Him, all creatures here below.
Praise Him above, ye heavenly host.
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. Amen.

* HYMN 496 Sweet Hour of Prayer SWEET HOUR

1. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! that calls me from a world of care,
and bids me at my Father's throne make all my wants and wishes known.
In seasons of distress and grief, my soul has often found relief,
and oft escaped the tempter's snare by thy return, sweet hour of prayer!
2. Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! thy wings shall my petition bear
to him whose truth and faithfulness engage the waiting soul to bless.
And since he bids me seek his face, believe his word, and trust his grace,
I'll cast on him my every care, and wait for thee, sweet hour of prayer!

* SCRIPTURE LESSON 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (NRSV)
This is the Word of God for the people of God.
Thanks be to God.

SERMON Let the Conversation Continue Rev. Tony Holifield

* HYMN 395 Take Time to Be Holy HOLINESS

1. Take time to be holy, speak oft with thy Lord;
abide in him always, and feed on his word.
Make friends of God's children, help those who are weak,
forgetting in nothing his blessing to seek.
2. Take time to be holy, the world rushes on;
spend much time in secret with Jesus alone.
By looking to Jesus, like him thou shalt be;
thy friends in thy conduct his likeness shall see.
3. Take time to be holy, let him be thy guide,
and run not before him, whatever betide.
In joy or in sorrow, still follow the Lord,
and, looking to Jesus, still trust in his word.
4. Take time to be holy, be calm in thy soul,
each thought and each motive beneath his control.
Thus led by his spirit to fountains of love,
thou soon shalt be fitted for service above.

MINISTRY SPOTLIGHT
You may already know that at Central one is able to participate in numerous vocal and instrumental ensembles.
However, you may not realize that we also offer private lessons through our Music Academy. Central’s Music
Academy is an extension of our music ministry, where private lessons are offered in piano, voice, and organ
for children, youth, and adults. Lessons are taught by our music staff, all who have many years of experience. We
believe that music is a gift from God, and is a wonderful way to experience God’s presence in our lives. And it
because of your continued giving to Central UMC that we continue to find creative ways to reach out to our
church and greater NWA community.
