1. GENERAL
This document is intended to cover technical specification for earthing and lightning protection system.
And this specification satisfies applicable scope of Nghi Son 2 BOT Thermal Power Project.
2. PURPOSE OF DOCUMENT

1. SCOPE :
This specification covers annealed copper stranded compacted conductors and shall be mainly based on
IEC Standard Designation: IEC 60228.
2. CONSTRUCTION DETAILES:
2.1 The completed conductors shall be in accordance with attached table.
2.2 Stranded wires
The stranded wires shall be concentrically laid and the pitch in outside layer shall be not more than
20 times the outside diameter and the direction of that layer shall be S-stranding.
3. INSPECTION:
The following inspection shall be made in accordance with IEC Standard.
1) Construction
2) Appearance
3) Resistance at 20℃
4. PACKING AND SHIPPING:

The conductor shall be wound on a strong wooden reel. The reel shall be lagged with stout wooden
battens so as to prevent the conductor from damage in ordinary handling and shipping.
5. MARKING:
The gross weight, net weight, length, nominal size, and any other particular required by purchaser shall
be marked on the outside of the reel with the method so as not to be disappear.

1. SCOPE
This specification covers copper conductor, flame retardant PVC insulated grounding wires mainly
in accordance with IEC 60502-1 unless otherwise specified in this specification.
2. CLASS AND SYMBOL

The class and symbol of the cable shall be as shown in following table.

3. CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIAL

3.1 Conductor
The conductor shall be compact round or circular stranded conductor of plain annealed copper
wires in accordance with IEC 60228.
3.2 Insulation
The insulation shall be consist of extruded FRLS-PVC compound.
The average thickness of the insulation shall be not less than the value given in attached table and
the minimum thickness at any point shall not fall below 90% of the specified value by more than
0.1 ㎜.
3.3 Color
The color of insulation shall be green or yellow/green insulation.
The ratio of yellow is about 30∼50%.
3.4 Identification of cable

The cables shall be clearly and permanently marked with the following information throughout the

4. TESTING
The following test shall be conducted at manufacturer’s works.
Testing method shall be in accordance with IEC 60502-1.
4.1 Routine Tests

1) Conductor resistance test (IEC 60228, IEC 60502-1 15.2)
2) A.C withstand voltage test (IEC 60502-1 15.3 : 3.5kV/5min)
4.2 Sample Tests

1) Conductor examination and check of dimensions (IEC 60228, IEC 60502-1 16.4)
4.3 Type Tests

1) Flame retardant of cable (IEC 60332-3-24)
2) Insulation resistance measurement at ambient temperature (IEC 60502-1 17.1)
3) Insulation resistance measurement at maximum conductor temperature in normal operation

Rod 3
Furse copperbond earth rods probably offer to the installer the best and
most economical earth rods available. They are made by molecularly
bonding 99.9% pure electrolytic copper on to a low carbon steel core.
RB225 + ST200 + Furse rods are not of the sheathed type. They are highly resistant to
CG270 corrosion, and because the steel used has a very high tensile strength,
they can be driven by power hammers to great depths.
The counter-bored couplings are made from high copper content alloy,
commercial brass is not used. This again ensures excellent corrosion
resistance and high strength.
