Ballymorris Road Closure: Laois County
Council have extended the road closure at
Ballymorris from the railway bridge to canal road
until September the 24th 2021.
Barrow Bridge to Kilnacourt: - Road works
commenced this week from The Barrow Bridge
to Kilnacourt Roundabout – Approx. 3 weeks
work estimated.

CEMETERY MASS
The Cemetery Mass normally takes place in the
parishes of Portarlington & Emo during the
months of July and August. This will be the
second year in a row that we can’t gather in the
usual way at our loved ones graves. But we will
keep all our departed friends and families in our
prayers. Indeed, we pray for all those who have
lost their lives during this pandemic and
for all who have died with COVID 19.

Meals on Wheels
Next year it will be the 50th Anniversary of the
first AGM for Portarlington Social Services. We
are looking for people to join our Meals on
Wheels Committee, if you have some spare

WORLD ELDER ABUSE AWARENESS
DAY TUESDAY, JUNE 15TH 2021
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day serves as a
call to organisations and communities to raise
awareness about Elder abuse, neglect and
exploitation. Research suggests that 4 – 10% of
older people experience some form of abuse,
most of which will go unreported. This day is to
make sure we remain focused on our older
populations and ensure that they continue to
lead lives of high quality and dignity. You can
show your support by wearing a purple ribbon on
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day on June 15th.
