Personal statement
I am currently 18 years old, coming to the end of my second year at TTE Technical Institute,
Middlesbrough, studying for a Level 3 BTEC in instrumentation at TTE. I am hard working, organised
and I recognise the importance on time keeping in any job. I am always willing to learn new skills, and
I will always do my work to the best of my ability to ensure that it is up to the standard of my employer.
I believe that my GCSE’s and BTEC qualifications show that I can dedicate myself to work and get the
job done, and my experience in work shows that I will show up on-time and do my best every day. I
have experience with working in fast paced environments, working long hours, and on-the-job training
from the jobs I have had. I am highly motivated to work as I have 2 weeks left of my college course
and I will be off for a few months, and I will be willing to work and day, any time.

Work experience
Parker’s, 5 Crossfell Rd, Middlesbrough TS3 7PB
(27th July 2019 – 5th September 2019)

Parker’s is a local newsagent that sells household items, and confectionary products.

As a sales assistant, I was responsible for advising customers, problem-solving, and organising
and maintaining stock levels. This required checking if the amount of stock we were supposed
to have matched the stock on the shelves and reporting if any stock was missing to my
supervisor. From working here, I have learnt the importance of customer service and quality
management of products.

WIS International, Scotswood House, Thornaby, TS17 6SB

(20th September 2020 – 20th January 2021)

WIS International is one of the leading global inventory and data collection service companies
which has over 4500 clients.

As a stock counter, I am responsible for counting inventory in warehouses and on the shop floor
for many different companies. This requires scanning the barcode of every item in a store
(such as Asda, Waitrose, Morrison’s and many more) as part of a team with other trained
stock takers, while hitting targets for the amount of stock I could scan per hour. This job
entailed long hours due to travelling time between locations. I would often be away from home
for up to 20 hours per shift. This has taught me to work to the best of my ability even when if I
am tired, to work as part of a team and consistently hit targets, and to increase the pace of my
work without diminishing the quality of it.
.

Skills
 Communication: Able to clearly communicate with colleagues to ensure that work goes as
smoothly as possible and prevent and issues that may arise.
 Adaptability: Able to change working hours to work alongside what the company needs, able
to evaluate and adjust to the different roles, responsibilities that I would have each day.
 Teamwork: I am able to work as part of a team, helping other colleagues at work if I’ve
finished what I need to do or if I am able to while doing my own tasks, and using teamwork in
sports like football and mountain biking.
 Organisation: I will always be on time and punctual with all the equipment I need.
 Time Management: I recognise that being on time is vital to be a good apprentice I will come
in early so I can get ready to do what I need to do for the day. This can be shown by my
attendance to my jobs as I have 100% attendance in all of them. My attendance to TTE is also
good, but due to covid-19 and internet issues out of my control it may not reflect my true
timekeeping.
 Problem-Solving: I can solve problems with logic and common-sense so that I can get passed
any problems and progress with the job I need to do or to prevent injuries in the workplace.
 Working under pressure: If I need to meet a close deadline, I can work faster without the
standard of my work changing.

Hobbies & Interests

I like to play football after college and on weekends with my friends, and I enjoy mountain biking.
Playing football is good exercise too so it helps me to stay healthy and improve my skills which make
it even more enjoyable to play. I can play it any time of the year too which makes it the perfect sport to
stay fit with. I am also a keen mountain bike rider and enjoy venturing and going into the outdoors. I
usually go up Eston hills and Guisborough woods with my friends and go down the trails that they
have to offer. I also like to go to Great Ayton quarry on my bike, as there is a variety of jumps there,
which I can use to progress my mountain biking skills. I’ve recently got into the gym and I’m hoping to
make it a major part of my life. I have created a diet plan and a workout routine to follow so that I can
improve my physique.
