Solar System Mittens Pattern


Yardage: Approx. 110 yards /100 meters in each colour,
worsted weight yarn (220 yards/200 meters total)
Cuff
Gauge: 7 sts = 1 inch
Cast on 54.
Needles: 3.5mm DPNs, 3.5mm 9” circular (optional) – or
whatever needed to obtain gauge. 1x1 ribbing for approx. 2.5 inches/20 rows.

Additional materials: stitch markers (optional), yarn needle,


scrap yarn
Body
Final Size: 4” wide (8” circumference), 9.5” tall
Follow Chart A for left hand and Chart B for right hand.
Techniques
Ensure you place your yarn holder for the thumb at row 19
- Working in the round of the chart.
- Stranded colour work
- Carrying floats Please note there are areas in which you will want to carry
- Placing yarn holder for thumb floats. I tend to carry floats after 4-5 stitches unused.
- Decreases (ssk, k2tog)
Bind off using Kitchener stitch.
- Kitchener stitch bind off

Chart Legend Thumb
