Solution

Overview

150.xx Black/ITU Cartridge Motor Errors of this type often require a service call. However, in many cases
this error is caused by packing material not completely removed from the black toner cartridge. Please attempt
a resolution of this issue before contacting Lexmark for service by doing the troubleshooting step detailed
below.

Troubleshooting

For Lexmark C54x Series Printers

1 Power off the printer. No Image
Wait for 30 seconds, then power on the printer again.
Did the error message return?

Yes: Continue to Step 3 or go to Contacting Lexmark.


No: Print a test page. If the page prints, continue normal use of

the printer. Observe it for the next few days to see if the 150.xx
error returns.

Note: Skip this step if you have already tried powering the printer
on and off, and proceed to Step 3.
3 Power off the printer again. No Image
4 Open the top door by sliding the button forward.

Remove the black toner cartridge by lifting the handle, and then gently

pull it away from the imaging kit.

Align the black toner cartridge, and then press it down until it clicks
into place.

6 Note: If this is a newly installed printer, remove any remaining packing


material from all sides of the toner cartridge. Any red or orange
plastic, plastic film, or cardboard must be removed from the cartridge
for it to function properly.

Close the top door and then power on the printer again.
Did the error message return?

7 Yes: A service call may be required. Please contact Lexmark


Technical Support for assistance.
No: Print a test page. If the page prints, continue normal use of
the printer. Observe it for the next few days to see if the 150.xx
error returns.

For Lexmark X54x Series Printers


NOTE: The images in the following table shows the Lexmark X543/4/6 models. However, these directions
also apply to the Lexmark X548 models.

1 Power off the MFP. No Image
Wait for 30 seconds and then power it on again.
Did the error message return?

2 No Image
Yes: Continue to Step 3 or go to Contacting Lexmark.
No: Print and scan a test page. If the page prints, continue
normal use of the printer. Observe it for the next few days to
see if the 150.xx error returns.

Note: Skip this step if you have already tried powering the printer
on and off, and proceed to Step 3.
3 Power off the MFP again No Image

4 Open the top door.

Remove the black toner cartridge by lifting the handle and then gently

Align the toner cartridge. Then press it down until it is all the way into
the slot.

6 Note: If this is a newly installed MFP, remove any remaining packing


material from all sides of the toner cartridge. Any red or orange
plastic, plastic film, or cardboard must be removed from the cartridge
for proper functioning.

7 Yes: A service call may be required. Please contact Lexmark
