The Child Education Society, the apex body of Bal Bharati Public Schools and
other institutions of higher education, was set up in the year 1944 during the
pre-independence era when the elders thought that Indian culture, heritage, tradition
and ethos must be preserved and fostered and in order to achieve these objectives,
it became obligatory for the Society to educate the young people. Thus, the Society
was registered under the Registration of Societies Act, 1860.
Today the affairs of the Society are managed by the Board of Management consisting
of eminent educationists and social workers and headed by Sh. K.K. Khullar, an
eminent educationist and a social worker as the President of the Society. Under his
dynamic leadership and with his team, the pace of expansion and development of
new schools has greatly quickened in the recent years going up from just one school
and one institution (NTTI) till 1984 to as many as 3 Institutions, 12 schools with 4
more to come up in the near future and 6 Project Schools in collaboration with the
Indian Railways and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC).
Bal Bharati Public Schools are comprehensive, co-educational English medium
schools. Hindi enjoys its pride of place as the National Language in its curriculum.

Each school is managed by a separate Managing Committee in accordance to the
rules as prescribed by the concerned State but will ultimately be responsible to the
Apex Body.
The schools built by the Society are set in congenial surroundings. They are housed
in modern attractive buildings equipped with all requisite facilities, well stocked
libraries, laboratories, computers, audio-visual equipment, facilities for creative arts,
indoor and outdoor games and swimming pools (wherever possible).

education keeping in view the country’s rich heritage and cultural background and

Besides academic excellence and intellectual development, the school endeavours
to help each child discover and develop one’s innate talents and abilities. It seeks to
instil in the children proper habits, positive attitudes and values such as truthfulness,
unselfishness, self-respect, self control, sense of duty, good manners, fair play,
team spirit, dignity of labour, punctuality, compassion, freedom of mind and a rational
and scientific approach.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL
The School, founded in the year 1944, is
the oldest and the largest among the chain
of 17 educational institutions established
by the Society. The School is
permanently affiliated with the Central
Board of Secondary Education and also
permanently recognised by the Delhi
Administration. It has two wings, one from
Class IV to XII at Ganga Ram Hospital
Marg and the other Pre-School & Pre
Primary (Montessori) to Class III at Pusa Morning Assembly
Road. The school has a total of 4858
students on its rolls.
SCHOOL COMPLEX
The total covered area of the two school
building complexes at Ganga Ram
Hospital Marg and at Pusa Road is around
1.8 lakh sq. ft.
There are six multistoreyed blocks,
one for Montessori, two for Primary (one
each at Pusa Road & GRH Marg), and
one block each for Middle, Secondary
and Senior Secondary Departments
with spacious classrooms, well-equipped
laboratories, Computer rooms, Library - Middle Dept.
Meal planning lab, Electronic lab, Math lab, Psychology lab, Audio Visual room,
Workshops, Libraries, Language lab and rooms for creative activities such as art,
painting, music and dance.
ADMINISTRATION
The School Managing Committee is headed by Mr K K Khullar as Chairman,
Mr L V Sehgal is the Principal and Mr J C Ajmani IFS (retd) is the Secretary
(Manager). The Principal is supported by the Vice-Principal, Mrs Geeta Gangwani
and two headmistresses, Mrs S Mehta & Mrs Anita Garg as well as a team of
experienced and qualified staff.
Visiting hours for meeting the Principal (by prior appointment) are :
8.30 am to 9.30 am (except Wednesday) at Ganga Ram Campus
(Parents and guardians may not visit their wards or teachers in the classrooms
without the permission of the Principal, Vice Principal or Headmistress.)

STAFF
The School has 183 highly qualified, experienced and dedicated teachers for
imparting education and guidance to the children and help build up their self-
confidence, prepare them for their future careers as well as inculcate in them the
basic values which are important for self development and good citizenship.
PREFECTORIAL BOARD
Prefectorial Boards at the Primary, Middle and Secondary & Senior Secondary level
with a Head Boy/Head Girl at each stage help in the maintenance of school discipline
and in organising various other programmes and activities, the objective being training
in management and self discipline.

In order to encourage students to participate in various programmes and activities
and widen their horizon and experience, which is important for their all round

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION


All parents are enrolled as members of the PTA. A strong, active, resourceful and
deeply committed Parent Teacher Association meets from time to time to extend a
helping hand to the school to achieve its aims and objectives. It plays a key role in
the developmental activities of the school and welfare of the students.
FOREIGN LANGUAGE
Today education aims at being broad-based and eclectic and knowledge of a foreign
language is always considered an added qualification. The school has provision for
teaching of German & French language at the Middle and Secondary levels. The
facility of teaching other languages can be considered if there is sufficient demand.
NIE AND PACE PROGRAMME
The Times of India & The Hindustan Times projects have been introduced to
encourage students to read newspapers critically and make them aware of the
social, economic and political events taking place in the country and around the
world.

THE HOUSE SYSTEM

The school is divided into eight ‘Houses’ at the Primary, Middle, Secondary and
Senior Secondary level. Each House
has a Housemaster, Assistant
Housemaster and a House Captain. It
is compulsory for every student to be a
member of a House. The main idea of
the House system is to provide training
in qualities of leadership, co-operation,
mutual understanding and self reliance.
Different types of activities are organised Dance Rhythms
under the House system such as dramatics, elocutions, quiz, recitation, debates,
group singing and dance. Besides, the students are trained in community service
and social work.

COMPUTER LITERACY
All students from Class II
onwards learn computer
language and operation.

There are four computer labs,


one each for Primary Pusa
Road, Primary GR Campus,
Middle, Secondary and Sr.
Secondary Classes. These
labs are air-conditioned and
equipped with the latest
generation of computers and

has also been introduced as an elective subject at the + 2 level.

Financial and accounting operation, the Library operation and as well as examination
system and generation of results have been computerised, thereby streamlining
the school administration and management.
The project of computer-aided teaching is on the anvil and plans are afoot to implement
it in the session 2009 – 10 in selected classes. The school has also launched its
own web-site http://www.bbpsgr.edu.in which gives easy, online access to
information about the school students’ performance in academics and other activities.

AUDITORIUM
The school has a modern, aesthetically
designed, centrally air-conditioned
auditorium. It is equipped with the latest
sound and lighting systems and can
accomodate upto 300 persons.
GAMES AND SPORTS
The school takes special care of physical
health and games and sports activities.
Under the care of trained physical
education teachers and coaches,
opportunity is provided for various sports Auditorium
& games such as athletics, badminton,
basketball, cricket, gymnastics, karate,
roller skating, swimming, table tennis,
tennis, taekwondo, volleyball, yoga, etc.
The achievement of the school in the field
of games and sports is of a very high
order. With the conviction that a healthy
mind thrives in a healthy body, we aim at
participation of each child in at least one
game or sport.
The school has a gymnasium / swimming
pool at GR campus and a toddler’s pool at Gymnasium (GR Campus)

ACADEMICS
PRE-SCHOOL / PRE-PRIMARY
At the pre-primary level, educational
programmes based on Montessori
philosophy and method are followed.
There are 24 large well equipped training
halls, where the tiny tots learn in an
informal way with the help of specially
designed apparatus under the
supervision and guidance of trained and
experienced teachers. Special attention
is paid to facilitate the physical, mental,
emotional and social growth of the child Pre-School Classroom (Mont. - I)
through a series of well coordinated activities. There is no homework and every
child is allowed to progress at his/her own pace.
PRIMARY
At this stage formal teaching of
academic subjects such as English,
Hindi, Maths, Social Studies, General
Science and EVS is introduced. Stress
is laid on balanced and harmonious
development based on a judicious mix
of academics, creative art, physical
education, yoga, educational tours,
excursions and outings.
A new concept of ‘Smart Class’ education
has been incorporated into our Education Art Class Pre-primary (Mont. - II)
System for classes I to VI. This is a Pusa Road
computer aided mode that enhances the
child’s understanding of the various
concepts of various subjects.
MIDDLE
There is an extension and fur ther
consolidation of the educational
programme that starts at the primary
stage. Besides the academic subjects,
a third language is taught from Class VI
to VIII. Students are encouraged to
participate in creative arts such as
Art Class - Middle Dept.
dance, music and craft.

SECONDARY
Students are especially coached for the first Public Examination conducted by the
Central Board of Secondary Education.
SENIOR SECONDARY
At the plus two level, Science,
Commerce and Humanities
Streams are available along with
English as a core subject. The
Science stream offers PCM
group with Biology/Computer
Science/Engineering Drawing/
Psychology. In the Commerce
stream, the students have an
option of studying Advanced
Accountancy, Business Studies,
Economics with either
Mathematics or Geography.
Chemistry Lab (Senior)
There is provision of studying
English, Hindi, Economics, Sanskrit, History, Psychology, Geography, Art and
Painting and Physical Education in the Humanities stream.
ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
The school, which is one of the founder members of the ‘National Progressive
Schools Conference’ is known for its high academic standard evident from the
outstanding performance of the students at the All India Examinations.
Every year a number of students distinguish themselves by gaining admission to
reputed institutions such as IITs, DCE, Regional Colleges of Engineering, AIIMS,
Delhi School of Planning and Architecture and the like.
Results of the school in Class X and Class XII Board Examinations have always
been of a high order.
ADMISSIONS
PRE-SCHOOL
Admission is open to Pre-School (Montessori -I) class for children who attain the
age of 3+ years as on 01.04.2010.
Since the concept of neighbourhood schools is gaining acceptance, preference will
be given to children who live near the school. Weightage is also given to those
whose real brother or sister is studying in the school as well as to the wards of
ex-students.

notice board and website.

Parents can register online at school website www.bbpsgr.edu.in Last date of


registration is 06-11-2009.
Application forms will be screened and the list of selected candidates alongwith a
waiting list will be put up on school notice board and school website on 21-11-2009
at 2.00 pm.

EWS ADMISSIONS
10% of the seats i.e. 37 are reserved for economically weaker section. For admission
annual income of the parents should be upto one lac for a girl child, and upto
Rs. 60,000/- for a boy child to qualify under this category. The parent has to submit
a certificate issued by Sub-Divisional Magistrate of the area concerned to this effect.
Any left over seats out of the 5% seats reserved for staff wards will also be given to
candidates of EWS.
Admission is subject to verification of originals of birth certificate, proof of residence
and other relevant documents. Schedule for verification of documents will be put on
notice board and school website on 21-11-2009.
DOCUMENTS TO BE ATTACHED WITH APPLICATION FORM TO
BE FILLED IN BY SELECTED STUDENT.
(i) Attested photocopy of Municipal Birth Certificate (child).
(ii) Attested photocopy of proof of residence eg. ration card, electricity bill, passport,
voter ID, house tax receipt (any one in the name of child’s parent).
(iii) Recent passport size coloured photograph affixed on the form (child).
(iv) Proof of Old Student of BBPS i.e. photocopy of Class XII/X SLC with minimum
of 5 years of stay in school (parents)
(v) Proof of sibling (real brother / sister only) studying in the school i.e. photocopy
of the latest fee slip.
(vi) Photocopies of documents relating to both parents’ educational qualifications.
(vii) Certificate of proof for economically weaker section of society.

SCHOOL UNIFORM
It is compulsory for all students to wear prescribed school uniform. All items of
summer and winter uniform, other than shoes will be available at the uniform counter
in the school at regulated pr
