Dear Editor,

I am sending this letter in regard to the article published about the Local Arts Day. The reporter
responsible for the feature has expressed some negative thoughts concerning it and they even used
the word “disappointing”. As I helped to organise that event, I believe I am entitled to completely
disagree with this opinion.
We need to take into account that it was a relatively unknown occasion and we tried our best to
advertise it through fliers and both Instagram and Facebook posts. It also was an outdoor event and
it was quite windy, so we needed to have a Plan B and try to accommodate the physical activities
inside in order to not cause havoc. I spoke with a lot of individuals and they were enthusiastic about
the artists and musicians that made a performance. They were not professionals; they were teenager
and young people who wanted to share their way of performing with the neighbourhood.
Furthermore, we made huge effort to make sure that everything was taken care of. The goal of our
Arts Day was not to create a major event with a large number of visitors, but to promote creativity
and learn something new and step outside your comfort zone. I believe that people had the
opportunity to meet new people and greet old acquaintances through engaging activities which
increased the interest in the Arts. We are proud of the outcome and we are sure that more people
will attend in subsequent years.
Ultimately, I am sorry the reporter was not completely satisfied with how the event was organized
and has been carried out. I look forward to receiving their response and, if possible, I would like to
read another article about it full of constructive suggestions.
Yours sincerely,
Francesca
