Estructura y vocabulario de 

una LETTER/EMAIL para el CAE

Ya que estamos escribiendo una carta o un correo, es importante seguir las típicas estructuras
convencionales de una correspondencia. Vamos, que hay que poner:

 Un saludo:

o Formal: Dear Sir/Madam/Mr o Mrs X/To whom it may concern (en caso de que no


sepamos a quién va dirigido)…

o Informal: Dear, Hi, Hello there..

 Razones por las que escribo (sólo si es formal): I’m writing/contacting you

regarding/with reference to/in order to express my concern about/disappointment


with/apologies for________

 Agradecimiento y/o muestra de interés por el emisor  (sólo si es informal): Lovely to hear


from you, thanks for the letter, it was great to get news from you (after so long), sorry I
haven’t been in touch (for so long)…

 Cuerpo de la carta:

o Formal: First of all, I would like to/I want to point out that…, According to your
previous email…I trust/very much hope you will

o Informal: Si hay que convencer –> Just think of/imagine how would it…, you’d get
so much of it…, It would be a wonderful opportunity for you to… Si hay
que aconsejar –>  It’s (not) worth + -ing/pointless to…, If I were you,
I’d/wouldn’t…, You’d better + inf. without to…, In light of the above…

 Despedida:

o Formal: Yours sincerely, Best/kindest regards, Yours faithfully…+ firma.

o Informal: I must go now, Write me back soon and let me know how it goes, All the
best, Best whises, Take care, Lots of love…
