My name is Nara Garrido and I am writing to apply for the open position of speaking
examiner I saw advertised in the Facebook group of the Institution I graduated from.

I am a qualified teacher of English, passionate about my career and with broad

experience working with students of different ages and levels. I advocate for the well-
being of my students and I do my best to engage them in every class. A backbone of my
career is helping students reach their potential, which I work towards by focusing on
their weaknesses and struggles when teaching.

As a teacher, I have had the possibility to work not only with students from different
levels, but also with students from different places, such as Paraguay, Spain, Syria and
China, getting to know a little about their culture. One of the most challenging and
enriching experiences was teaching a six-year-old boy from Syria who did not speak
Spanish -or English- so as to communicate with me. Therefore, our classes were entirely
delivered in English, with great results by the end of a two-month period. I have taught
students with different purposes each and their success reinforced my love for teaching.

I consider myself a suitable candidate for the job because I am a supportive, open-
minded and establish good rapport with students. I am flexible, but I challenge my
students to do their best and help them achieve great results. I am always willing to
improve. I have a thirst for knowledge and I aim to do my best. In addition, due to my
experience, I think I could be a valuable addition to your board. I am aware of your
mission, I read about your assessment innovations which I find groundbreaking, since it
is important to develop the tools that the modern world requires. I also know about your
examinations and your policies, and I think experience working in your team will
provide an invaluable insight for my career.
