GENERAL STUDIES COURSE OUTLINE

General studies are the study of factors within a given environment which affects the individual’s life.
Since 8-4-4 system of education aims at producing balanced self-reliant person, general studies therefor
seeks to develop trainee’s positive healthy altitudes and communications skills to enable them to play
their role effectively in the society.

General objectives

At the end of this course unit the trainee should be able to;-

a. Be a aware of the various ways in which the individual and society interact
b. Develop a positive altitude in relation to work and society
c. Broaden and deepen his outlook life
d. Use the relevant technology to meet human’s needs
e. Appreciate and conserve his culture and environment
f. Acquire values by which life may most satisfactory be lived
g. Develop communication skills to enable him or her to understand, interpret and express ideas
