IMPORTANT
Helpful Information and Recommended Procedure for the

CORRECT ORDERING OF WESTERN BLOCKS

In selecting blocks, the governing consideration should be the or shackles on the blocks have to support the entire load. It is

rope they will support. In multiple sheave blocks the load is blocks three times as strong as single blocks, since they would

WHEN ORDERING, ALWAYS SPECIFY:

Letter of Fitting, Block Series, Letter of Bearing, and Size.

EXAMPLE:
For ordering a 4" Single Wood Block with Loose Side Latch
Hook, Common Iron Bearing, simply specify as follows:

If blocks are not shown with type of fitting you require, simply
choose letter corresponing to your fitting need and insert
where “HS” appears in the above example.
Unless otherwise specified all material will be furnished in
galvanized finish.
All blocks except snatch blocks are furnished with becket.
Blocks without becket on special order only.
When blocks are used for heavy loads and fast hoisting, we
strongly recommend roller or bronze bearings in the sheaves.
For wire rope blocks, cast steel sheaves are recommended.

All Certified single blocks are proof tested to twice the Resul-
tant Safe Working Load and marked with a working load
equal to one half the resultant load. Double blocks are tested
to twice the Resultant Safe Working Load and marked with a
working load equal to the resultant load.
SPECIAL CUSTOM-MADE BLOCKS. . .
We manufacture a large number of Special Blocks to meet
particular requirements. Specify type block, diameter of
sheave, diameter of manila or wire rope to be used, and
weight of load.

Drop Link • All styles have drop forged heads and links.
• Edges of shell are rounded to protect rope.

• Sheaves are steel with a Self Lubricating Bronze Bushing.

• The extra large center pins have steel sleeves around them, thus increasing the diameter of the bearing surface.

Blocks
These sleeves also act as separators for the sides of the shell and when the nuts on the lubricated center pins
are pulled up tightly, the rigidity and strength of the blocks are greatly increased.

Wire Rope Blocks

• Semi-Circular guard in shell over sheave prevents wire from slipping between shell and sheave.
This feature also greatly strengthens the plates in shell.
• Steel sleeve over center pin gives a bearing surface of larger diameter. This sleeve is held tightly
between the plates and makes the block extremely rigid (See page 226).

Team Snatch Blocks

• With Drop Forged Swivel Hook and Extra Large Lubricated Center Pin.
• Blocks supplied with Self Lubricating Bronze Bushed Steel Sheaves.

• For trucking, tractors, rotary work, and logging.

• Extra heavy drop forged parts.
• Circular guards pressed in shell and extending well down over edge of sheave prevent wire from
jamming between shell and sheave. Rounded edges of shell protect the rope. These features also
greatly stiffen shell plates.
• Extra large center pins are Alemite-lubricated. Heavy steel sheave has bronze bushing that is lubricated
through center pin.
