2.14 A 4. ERGONOMIC STUDY FOR WORKING AY HEIGHTS

gloves, etc.?
2. Are the linemen provided with helmet chin strap and used?
3. Are the PPE’s will not distract the position of their body?
4. Are the linemen provided with double big hook lanyards?
5. Are the linemen know how to engage the big hook between his
thumb & index finger?
6. Are the big hooks/harnesses have been register and safe for
used?
7. Is damage PPE have been discarded and place in isolation box?
8. Are fall arresters, life line are safe for used, colour coded
registered & inspected?
2. TRAINING
1. Are all linemen who work at heights of OHTL are trained?
2. If yes, is there available work at height sticker in his helmet?
3. Are all linemen who work at heights have completed the fitter
assessment by the competent person?
4. Do the linemen know how to use and inspect properly the
harnesses, fall arrester, life lines & big hook lanyards?
3. COLD AND HEAT
1. Does it become excessively hot in summer?
2. If so, do the linemen still permitted to work during hot climate?
3. Does it become excessively cold in winter?
4. If so, do the linemen still permitted to work during cold climate?
5. Does the lineman can work during rain/snow?
6. If not, do they immediately climb the OHTL tower after the
rain/snow even the structure are still slippery?
4. EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS
1. Are all linemen who work at heights has undergo a medical
fitness test?
2. If yes, are their fitness certificate are valid?
3. Are sufficient first aid kits available in the worksite?
4. If the lineman feels that he was having a headache, pain in his
body, etc., do they declare that are they are ill?

5. Is there available emergency vehicle nearby the workplace that
can reach within 20 minutes?
5. WORKING AT HEIGHTS
1. Do the linemen maintain 3 point contact while ascending &
defending in OHTL tower?
2. Is there available small hook that are been used by linemen?
3. Do the linemen practice frequent rest for few minutes while
climbing and getting down from the tower?
4. Do the lineman stand as close as possible to the OHTL
structure?
5. Do the linemen maintain 100% tie off while moving at heights?
6. Is tools that are using by the linemen are secure and light weight
only?
7. Do the linemen secure their big hooks in the right anchorage
point, (secured tower braces-tightened bolts)

Note: A separate study must be conducted every 6 months for working at heights in OHTL construction.
