Valley County boys excel at Boys State

American Legion Boys State
was held on the Carroll College
Campus in Helena June 6 through
June 11 , 2021. Dalton. Making
the trek from Valley County were
Dalton Sand and Kyler Hallock from
Glasgow High School and Cole
Taylor from Ophiem High School,
as well as American Legion District
1 Commander Joe Yeoman (who
attended Boys State as a Hinsdale
student once upon a time). The boys
were sponsored by American Legion
Post #41.
Dalton ran for Mayor, City
Council, County Commissioner,
Party Chairman,LT. Governor,
Senator and Senate Whip. He
was elected City Council, County
Commissioner, Party Chairman
,Senator And Senate Whip.
Kyler Hallock ran for Municipal
Judge and lost. He than ran for Chief
of Police and won. Then he ran for
State Public Service Commissioner
and won.
Cole ran for City Mayor, County
Auditor, Governor, Senator, and
President of the Senate. He won City
Mayor, County Auditor, Senator and
President of the Senate.
Cole also received a $10,000
Samsung American Legion
Scholarship! Meant to show
appreciation for U.S. veterans
who came to Korea’s aid during its
struggle against communist forces
in the Korean War, the Samsung
American Legion Scholarship

For their accomplishments at Boys State, Dalton and
Cole were also elected to attend American Legion Boys
Nation — the most respected and selective educational
programs of government instruction for U.S. high school
students — to be held in Washington, D.C. in July.
Only one hundred Boys Nation Senators (two from
each state excluding Hawaii and two from Washington,
D.C., so quite an accomplishment for Dalton and Cole!) are
chosen from a pool of over 20,000 Boys State participants,
making it one of the most selective and respected
educational programs in the United States concerning
civic training, government, leadership, and Americanism.

This is a three part event
held at the fairgrounds.
Part one is a
community barbecue that

We will be using the Boy
