SETBACK
The horizontal distance from the property line to the
face of a building or from natural features to a building.

BUILT ENVIRONMENT
Opposite of a natural environment, it is a man-made
creation or alterations to an existing site and all of its
resources.

The mechanical process of moving soil and earth in
order to change the degree or rise of the landscape's
appearance or for creating more suitable conditions.

A lattice for the support of climbing plants.

Collect surface water and conduct it to rivers, creeks,
or other bodies of water.

WHEEL CHOCKS
/ STOP
These are wedges of sturdy material placed closely
against a vehicle's wheels to prevent accidental
movement. These are placed for safety in addition to
setting the brakes.

7 RAIN GARDEN
A planted depression or a hole that allows rainwater
runoff from impervious urban areas, like roofs,
driveways, walkways, parking lots, and compacted
lawn areas, the opportunity to be absorbed. This
reduces rain runoff by allowing storm water to soak
into the ground (as opposed to flowing into storm
drains and surface waters

Open frameworks, usually of wood or lattice, that are
intended to create a shady area within a garden or
landscape and often serve as trellises for climbing
plant life.
