The Battle of Panipat launches the

beginning of the Mughal Empire in

India.

1530
Babur ceased to rule the

Mughals and was

succeeded by his son,

Humayun. 1556
"Akbar the Great" became

emperor of the Mughal Empire.

1587
Began construction of Mughal

Road and other major roadways

to enable easy trade routes and

transportation.

1605
The Mughals established a trade

relationship with Europe along the

Silk Road and Indian Ocean.

1631
The Taj Mahal began to be

constructed by Shah Jahan.

1658
Aurangzeb, religious and

military zealot, took power.
