EQUILIBRIUM OF PARTICLE IN 3-D

For particle equilibrium,  F = 0


So F1 + F2 + F3 = 0
If the forces are resolved into i, j, k
components,
Fxi + Fy j + Fz k = 0

or, written in a scalar form,


 Fx = 0 ;  Fy = 0 ;  Fz = 0
These are three scalar equations
of equilibrium (E of E). They can
be used to solve for up to three
unknowns.
