 Each module has a Status LED called STS
 Green LED indicates a normal, fully functional status
 Steady orange indicates a fault
• Part needs to be replaced

Set System to Maintenance Mode
 The system needs to be set to Maintenance Mode for
Preventive Maintenance, Expansion and Reduction
 SCSI sense, SNMP report to server, email report and REMCS report are
suppressed
 Menu Device Status shows the Maintenance Mode

 Choose [Controller Enclosure] [Controller Module#1]
 Check the status field of the CM#1

Replacing a Component (2)
 Replace the component according to the instructions given in
the Maintenance Manual
 Typical installation times shown on the table CM 10 min
EXP 5 min
 After the replacement Status is changed SFP 1 min
as follows PSU 2 min

 Normal Disk 1 min


SAS Cable 5 min
• Installed the replacement part successfully
AC Cable 2 min
 Maintenance
• Installing the replacement part
• Please note that for a disk drive this status combined with automatically started
Rebuild/Copyback indicates a successful replacement
 Warning, Error
• Installation has failed

 Verify that the status changes back to Normal

 If there are no further defective components in the system after the
replacement of a component, execute "Delete Sense Data"

Collecting Internal Log (1)
 As a proof of the replacement operation, it is recommend to
take the internal Log after completion of the maintenance

 In a case of a CM replacement, it is recommended to take the
Panic Dump for analysis of the cause of failure

Set System Back to Normal Mode
 Stop Maintenance Mode after the maintenance procedures are
finished

Log Off
 Before logging off from the ETERNUS Web GUI, make sure
that all components have a status Normal
 Confirm Device Status, RAID Group Status and Volume Status from the
Web GUI
 System LED is green
