Strengths, Interests, Values Reflection

Part 1: Do What You Are

Complete the Do What You Are survey in Naviance. Use your report to answer the questions

below.

1. What is your personality type?

My personality type is ENFJ which means I am an extravert, intuitive, a feeler, and a judger.

2. What does each aspect of your personality mean about you?

Each aspect starting with extravert means that I am outgoing and very friendly and open. Being

intuitive means that I focus on the what ifs, work with new theories and am very imaginative.

Being a feeler means I focus on doing work that has meaning to me and choose to be in a work

environment that is friendly and helps others. Being a part of a judger means many decisions

come from work and I like to finish my tasks before taking a break.

3. List two strengths indicated in your report. Give an example from your life that

demonstrates that these qualities are strengths.

Two of the strengths indicated in my report included developing and following a well-laid out

plan. An example of this would be how I set an overall plan to make sure I finish school on time

and I follow through with these plans. It also mentioned that one of my strengths is that I use my

creativity to solve obstacles I face. An example of this would be that I have used my creativity to

work around losing masks in my room, by putting a hair tie on a thumbtack in the wall and using

it to hold all my masks in one place.


4. What qualities should a career have in order to satisfy your particular personality?

A career should have a healthy work environment in order to satisfy my particular personality.

Meaning that the other workers and yourself help each other and do not create toxic

environments with each other. It is also important that a career environment gives me the ability

to grow as a person and also with my work abilities.

5. How can you use this information to make an informed career choice?

I can use this information to make an informed career choice by looking at my strengths and

applying them to the decisions I make about where I want to work. I can also use this

information to look at my strengths and weaknesses and learn to improve. With this information I

get a short descriptive answer on some aspects of who I am as a person. This can be very

helpful so I know how I can grow as a person and in my work environment.

Part 2: MI Advantage

Complete the MI Advantage survey in Naviance. Use your report to answer the questions below.

6. What are your top three bits of intelligence?

My top three bits of intelligence included being musical, existential, and a naturalist.

7. What does this intelligence mean about you?

Music includes instrumental ability along with other abilities including patterns and rhythms.

Existentialism includes the ability to see the bigger picture. Naturalism includes the ability to

recognize differences within the environment.


8. How can you use this information to make an informed career choice?

You can use this information to make an informed career choice because this information

includes your strengths. Due to this you can look at your strengths and apply them by looking at

career choices that include those strengths.

Part 3: Career Interests Profiler

Complete the Career Interests Profiler in Naviance. Use your report to answer the questions

below.

9. What are your strongest interests?

My strongest interests that I found on my report were artistic(21), investigative(8), and

enterprising(7).

10. What do these interests mean about you?

Artistic involves working with forms, designs, and patterns. Investigative works with ideas and

figuring things out mentally. Enterprising means carrying out projects, often dealing with

business.

11. How can you use this information to make an informed career choice?

You can use this information to make an informed career choice by looking at your options of

career interests. This information allows you to find careers related to them.
Part 4: Work Values

Go to www.onetonline.org. Under “Advanced Search”, select “Work Values”. Review the

description of each work value. Select three work values that are most important to you. Answer

the questions below about your work values.

12. What are your top three work values?

My top three work values are achievement, independence, and working conditions.

13. What do these work values mean about you?

These work values mean that it's important for me to feel success and accomplishment when

working. It also means that I have the freedom of making my own decisions and am working in a

secure environment.

14. How can you use this information to make an informed career choice?

You can use this information to make an informed career choice by looking at the work values.

Then you can decide which careers fit under that specific category.

Part 5: Career Results Comparison

Review the career lists provided at the end of each survey. Identify three careers that are similar

across the lists. List the careers and explain why each career may be satisfying to you citing

evidence from your survey results.

Musicians, artists, and writers. Being a musician may be satisfying because I have a deep

passion for playing instruments. I want to expand my knowledge. Being an artist may be

satisfying because I am good at drawing and come from a family of artists. There are many

different careers that come with it. Lastly, being a writer may be satisfying because I write to

relieve stress and there are also different careers that involve writing.
