Evaluating Trig Functions & Basic Identities

1. Let 𝑃 (−5, −7) be a point on the terminal side of angle 𝜃 drawn in standard position. Find the
values of the six trig functions of 𝜃.

2. Consider 𝜃 = −120°. The angle is in Quadrant III. The reference angle is 180° − 120° = 60°.
From here, we can find all six trig functions.

sin(− 120 °)=− sin(60 ° )= −√❑

3. Use reference angles and quadrant locations to evaluate the following trig functions.

a. cos 315° b. tan
6
4. Evaluate the following. csc(11𝜋) How many full revolutions does 11𝜋 complete?

5. cos(−600°) How many full revolutions does −600° complete?

6. Evaluate the following.

−11
a. csc(750°) b. cos ( ¿

7. EVALUATING TRIGONOMETRIC FUNCTIONS Given cos 𝜃 = − 3, 8 and sin 𝜃 < 0, find sin 𝜃
and tan 𝜃. What quadrant does 𝜃 lie in? Quadrant 3 Create the appropriate right triangle.
