COVER LETTER

What motivated me to choose this particular study program?

Learning and serving are the sole motto of my life. I am a recent postgraduate from Government
College University, Faisalabad (CGPA 3.91/ 4.00). The major motivation and objective behind
choosing the study program of Biotechnology/Microbiology is my desire to learn and serve the
world in a sustainable manner because I believe that it is biotechnology that can solve the major
problems faced by humanity. I want to protect the fellow human beings particularly the
vulnerable / poor people of the developing countries like Pakistan from COVID-19 related
complications with the help of biotechnology through the production of vaccine. I also want to
ensure food security through biotechnology as my country is suffering from high level of
malnutrition. I wish to pursue this program because it will lead me to fulfill my ambition and
build my future career. By and large, I always want to take this course as it will enhance my
existing skillsets to better equip me to excel in and move your career path to succeed well in life.
How is Microbiology/ Biotechnology program will help me to fight/alleviate the impact
of the climate change?
My studies and research in biotechnology/ Microbiology will help fight and alleviate the disaster
of Climate change and associated factors including temperature increases, changes in rain fall
pattern and occurrence of pest and diseases which are negatively influencing the agricultural
production, productivity and quality. The impacts of Climate change on Pakistan are extremely
alarming as it is already running short of water resources. Biotechnology can positively reduce
the effects of climate change by using modern approaches. Modern biotechnology through the
use of genetically modified stress tolerant and high yielding transgenic organisms also stand to
significantly counteract the negative effects of climate change. Biotechnology is one of the most
reliable answers to mitigate climate change through use energy efficient farming, carbon
sequestration and reduced synthetic fertilizer usage. Planting genetically modified crops has
shown significant reduction in the amount of greenhouse gases emitted.
Biotechnology can also help reduce carbon emissions and the effects of global warming.
Through the development of plants that can store more carbon dioxide in their roots. And if this
is done on a very, very large scale across the world with major agriculture crops – such as corn,
soybeans, wheat and cotton – it could help slow down climate change.
How I think education and the fight against climate change are connected?
I strongly believe that education is an essential component of the global response to climate
change. It helps people understand and address the impact of global warming, increases
“climate literacy” among young people, encourages changes in their attitudes and behavior and
helps them adapt to climate change related trends. The developing countries like Pakistan are
badly suffering from the effects of climate change which are causing serious consequences for its
economy, health, politics and society. My studies of Biotechnology courses in the developed
country like Germany will surely help me to work sincerely for the better and sustainable future
of my country
