Activity 7.

1 Philosophy of Teaching
Observation

Observe a teacher for two weeks. Please write your observations on the following:
1. Classroom Layout
It has 5 x 6 seating arrangement, bookshelf on the right side of the room (together with
the reading corner), and bulletin/announcement board at the back.
2. Teaching Methodology
He used learner centered method to cater the needs of the learners. He also organized
physical and mental activities.
3. Assessment
He used journals, summative, open-ended questions, and reflection activities
4. Materials
He used common materials like visual aids and printed materials.

1. What do you think is the teaching philosophy of the teacher that you have observed?
I think that his teaching philosophy is to nurture and encourage the lifelong
learning of his students.

2. Cite the reasons for your answer in the previous question.


He believed that through hands-on activities, classroom discussion, experience
related discussion, and even the use of humor, he can ignite the passion of his
students to learn and act. He wants to make them think creatively and explore
their natural curiosity.
3. How does the teacher’s philosophy of teaching impact the learners?
A teacher would be able to see and analyze from the perspective of their
students. Apart from understanding why students are behaving in a particular
way, teachers would also be able to know how students perceive their actions.
