III. PROJECT SUMMARY

Practicing the principle “Prevention is better than cure” advocates

safety awareness which is essential in achieving quality of life. We need
to know and understand the risk of our natural environment and take
sensible and feasible precautions to prevent natural hazards from
becoming disasters or at minimum to mitigate the impact of disasters
when they occur.

As COVID-19 continue to pose threat to our mission of providing

the highest quality of education and ensure accessibility to all. The
School Task Force shall strictly implement the salient parts of the School
Learning Continuity Plan (BE-LCP)

IV. PROJECT BACKGROUND

Basic Education and disaster prevention and preparedness go

hand in hand. Almost all the disaster risk reduction interventions are
with being implemented with adults as active participants; children are
left out. And this has been proved that children could be instrumental in
implementation of DRR and act as one of the most effective links in the
entire process.

Gayong-Gayong Sur Integrated School come up with its project

aligned to its present situation on Covid-19 to ensure the health, safety, and
well-being of all teachers and its learners while keeping quality education

accessible in this new learning environment. This project focuses on the

school’s action in delivering safety despite of the school challenges brought
by the pandemic. Moreover, it aims to cater the actual needs of the school
and learning center.

V. PROJECT OBJECTIVES

This project aims to capacitate the learners on their preparedness

before, during and after calamities and disaster prevalent in the locality.

a. To increase learner’s awareness on the impact and possible risk of the

COVID-19 outbreak
b. To ensure continuity of teaching-learning activities using the
recalibrated curriculum, the MELC through the most appropriate
modality;
c. To engage learners in real-life situation and preparedness activity.
d. To practice health protocols and proper hygiene.

C. PROJECT RISK MANAGEMENT

The possible risk that the proponents may encounter in the
realization of the project is that they might not be able to look for
sponsors to donate/ provide learning materials and cash donations for
the program to the learners of Gayong-Gayong Sur I/S.

The project “LIGTAS”, the school will take responsible in

implementing the said project at all cost. The school also looks forward
in the realization of the project that will surely leave value in the school,
parents and most specially to the recipients.
