NICE KICKS

HELLO, MY NAME IS SAMUEL OKODUA AND I AM TRYING TO PROMOTE MY NEW SHOE

COMPANY NAMED NICE KICKS WITH THE HELP OF RALPH JONES. RALPH AND I DECIDED TO

MAKE A SHOE COMPANY BECAUSE WE ARE BOTH INTERESTED IN MAKING SHOES; THAT IS OUR

PASSION. WHEN YOU MAKE YOUR OWN SHOE, YOU GET THIS FEELING IN YOUR BODY AND YOU

KNOW YOU MADE THE PERFECT SHOE. WE HAVE A WIDE VARIETY OF SHOES IN THE MARKET

THAT WE ARE PROUD OF. OUR NEW SHOE IS CALLED, THE ALPHA 2. THEY LOOK GREAT AND

WILL COME OUT SEPTEMBER, 22, 2011. BE ON THE LOOK OUT FOR THEM.

MAKING SHOES IS NOT EASY; YOU HAVE TO PUT YOUR CREATIVITY INTO MAKING IT. FIRST,

YOU HAVE TO ORDER THE RUBBER. WE GET OUR RUBBER FROM A FACTORY IN THILAND. THEY

SHIP IT TO US IN BALES; BALES ARE RUBBER IN A CUBE AND THEN WE GET THE RUBBER OUT

AND MAKE THE OUTSOLE. THE OUTSOLE IS THE BOTTOM PART OF THE SHOE. AT NICE KICKS,

WE STITCH THE OUTSOLE TO THE OTHER PARTS OF THE SHOE. SOME OTHER SHOE COMPANY’S

USE GLUE, BUT WE DON’T.

WE’RE NOT DONE; WE STILL NEED TO MAKE THE INSOLE. THE INSOLE IS THE INTERIOR

BOTTOM OF A SHOE, WHICH IS DIRECTLY BENEATH THE FOOT THEY CAN BE REMOVED AND

REPLACED TOO. IN SOME SHOES THEY ADD EXTRA INSOLES FOR EXTRA COMFORT. ALSO

SOME CAN BE DESIGHNED TO MAKE YOUR SHOE SMELL FRESH. WE’RE STILL NOT DONE.

YOU ARE PROBABLY WONDERING HOW WE CUT THE OUTSOLE, AND INSOLE. WELL WE

HAVE A MACHINE FOR THAT IF WE DIDN’T IT WOULD BE REALLY HARD. THE MACHINE ACTS LIKE

A COOKIE CUTTER. IT CUTS THE SHAPE OF THE OUTSOLE AND THE INSOLE. AND THEN WE

SIMPLY STICH THE OUTSOLE TO THE REST OF THE SHOE. AND THEN WE SLIP THE INSOLE IN.

5
NOW WE HAVE TO MAKE THE MIDSOLE. THE MIDSOLE IS THE PART THAT MAKES THE SHOE

COMFORTABLE. WE REALLY TRY TO MAKE OUR SHOES COMFORTABLE. BECAUSE AT NICE

KICKS WE WANT TO MAKE OUR SHOES THE BEST THEY CAN BE, AND IF DON’T LIKE THE

COMFORT IN YOUR SHOES, SIMPLY SHIP THEM BACK AND WE WILL FIX THEM.

THEN WE MAKE THE UPPER. THE UPPER IS THE PART OF THE SHOE THAT COVERS MOST

OF YOUR SHOE. IT INCLUDES THE TOUNGE, THE VAMP, THE BACK, THE QUARTER, AND THE

LINING. UPPERS CAN BE MADE FROM A WIDE VARIETY OF MATERIALS, WITH THE MOST

POPULAR BEING LEATHER, SATIN, SUEDE, AND CANVAS. FOR EXAMPLE, THE NEW ALPHA 2 ARE

MADE OF CANVAS. THE UPPER MATERIALS ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE. BUT FOR US THAT IS NOT A

PROBLEM. BECAUSE WE WANT THE BEST FOR THE PEOPLE WE SELL OUR SHOES TO. THAT WILL

NOT INCREACE THE PRICE OF THE SHOE BECAUSE WE KNOW THAT SOME PEOPLE ARE IN SOME

TOUGH TIMES BECAUSE OF THE RECESSION.

NOW WE MUST MAKE THE HEEL. THE HEEL IS LOCATED AT THE BACK OF THE BOTTOM

PART OF THE SHOE AND IS NOT PART OF THE OUTSOLE. THE HEEL IS USUALLY MADE OF HARD

RUBBER AND IT CAN BE HIGH FOR FASHION PURPOSES (HIGH HEELS) THEY CAN BE USED TO

MAKE YOU LOOK TALLER. THEY CAN ALSO BE USED TO MAKE THE SHOE EVEN MORE

COMFORTABLE. NOW WE’RE DONE MAKING THE SHOE.

HERE IS SOME EXTRA INFORMATION ABOUT MAKING A SHOE. A SHOE COMPANY HAS

MAINLY FOUR DEPARTMENTS IN WHICH A PROGRESSIVE ROUTE IS FOLLOWED FOR

PRODUCING FINISHED SHOES. THESE ARE- CLICKING OR CUTTING DEPARTMENT, CLOSING OR

MACHINING DEPARTMENT, LASTING & MAKING DEPARTMENT, FINISHING DEPARTMENT AND

THE SHOE ROOM. AT NICE KICKS WE GET EMPLOYEES THAT PERFECT SHOE MAKING.

BASICALLY, WE GET THE BEST SHOE MAKERS TO MAKE YOUR SHOES.
