 OBJECTIVES

 Load CSVs :
Click Table file and go to CSVs and load two files. Qlik automatically selects the quoting
and picks up the values.

 Delimited :
We can select the file type Delimited exist in the source file to identify between the columns.
There are 3 quoting techniques:
1). Standard
2). MSQ: usually we use this, as this is standard across the industry. That is just use single or double
inverted commas to identify the length of the field.
3). None

 File wizard : Type options
Header size : suppose if you have empty rows or columns at the beginning of the file, then with
header size in Qlik can remove the empty lines.

Comment : you can write your comment here.

Character set : it is automatically identified by Qlik view.

 Header Size :
Labels : In labels there are 3 options
None: when there are no column names present in your delimited file, this option is chosen.
Embedded : column names are present in the file and it is used in making the fields inside Qlik view.
Exploit : when you want to explicitly specify the column names, these are used.

Ignore EOF : sometimes it happens your custom source would have an End of file to mark, there
might be some more data after EOF character, so we can tell the Qlik view to ignore it and to take
up rest of the data also.

 Transformation :
Delete Marked: In the transformation step there is option Delete marked, it
is enabled when you select any row and delete it.

Conditional delete : while comparing the value of any of the columns, you can
tell the Qlik view not to load the data.

 Fill Tab :
Fill option is used to fill up the empty spaces.
When there are in some rows or tabs in which data is not available.
If there are empty cells in our data then last value has to be filled in the empty cells.
There may be multiple empty cells then it has to be filled within the preceding value.

 Column Tab :
Go to column tab click “New”  depending on the existing column we can add a new column.
Suppose source column is “1”. Then, click cells from these rows and a dialogue box opens, “Specify
row condition” dialogue box opens and here mention how many rows data we want. Suppose we
want from “3002.....” and click “Ok”.

 Column Tab :
Mention the target column as “0” in Specify cells for new columns, which creates a
new column. A new third column will be created.

 Unwrap Functionality :
This is used where you have multiple pages of data in a single file. You can unwrap and
put one below the other horizontally or vertically.
Rotate : If your data is not in row level, you can rotate it right / left etc.

 Inline Tab :
In the insert menu, there is load statement in which there are 2 options:
1). Load from file
2). Load inline

Click inline Inline data wizard dialogue box opens, where you can create many inline table to
support or create mapping table, lookup table, put or replace some values. In the next column give
the order to show the month in order to sort according to the requirement.

 Setting Menu :
Go to document properties In the title field give the name which comes as the
caption for the file as a custom title not showing the path of the document or name of
the document.
Compression is usually kept on high, pop-ups can be set when we open the document.

 Setting Menu :
We can also choose the background colour and wallpaper, image which becomes the default for the
document. Image formatting can also be done. This option will be helpful when the client wants the
colour of your dashboard it will be just like a designed template for your document.

 Tabrow Background:
Tabrow colour can be set as per the colour of the logo.

 Styling Mode :
Advanced styling mode is used and choose the Object style as Glass style. This makes
the difference in the look and feel of the dashboard, it gives 3D effect.

 Opening Tab :
Generate log file helps you to analyse how to load for Qlik view document went.

Time Stamp : Every time Qlik view document reloads, at that time stamp will be added to the file
name. Every time when we reload a new file would be created or a new log file will be created.
Image : when a user opens the document the user can see the welcome message or a warning
image, or a logo.

Sound : it can be used which is played when the user opens the document.

 Sheets Tab:
This lists out all the sheets that are there in the document. It shows normal and
conditionally hidden sheets.
Ex : Add a new sheet right click and go to properties go to general tab and in the
conditional field put as “0” which means false. In the main tabrow the sheet will be
hidden. The changes can be checked in the sheet tab.

 Scheduler Tab :
Properties tab will take to the chart properties, where we can do the changes.

Server Tab : It helps to make the changes to the file in the server.

Scheduler tab : we can schedule the time here to perform the task.

 Triggers Tab :
We cans set the trigger based on the opening of the document, for any selection of the
document, on reduce or post the reload.

 Tables :
Tables : it gives the tabular structure of the whole data model. It shows the number of
records, field names, keys or any table related comment.

 Sort :
When you set sort order to all your fields, with which you can sort any field.

 Presentation :
We can align the data, create a theme or even pre created theme can be reloaded. This is
the security feature of Qlik.

 Scrambling :
If you have some sensitive data and you want to show that to another person but not
showing the actual data, then you can scramble some information and still show the
dashboard, chart layout but only data is scrambled.

 Font Tab :
Where you can set the font size for your data.
Layout and Caption options can change the colour of the table boarders.

 Setting Menu :
Go to user preference click General tab go to Show system fields. This helps to analyse
the problem. It applies only the personal copy of the Qlik View, it does not apply to the
document.

 Save Tab :
Here you can save before reloading the data and can also keep a back up copy in order to
save the file from logical error.

 Expression Overview :
Go to Setting menu select Expression Overview.
Here you can get all the expression of the file. You can also make the changes using the
other options present.

 Help :
Go to Help tab and select help option, and there is a reference document in PDF
format available.
Ex : How to create a chart, you can refer the PDF.

 Current selection Box :
It is an important option in Qlik View.
Right click  go to New sheet Objects  select Current selection box.

 Current selection Box :
This shows whatever selection that the user has made in this document. It serves as
the reference.
Ex : Suppose “Atlantic” is selected, the box shows the field name and the selection
value.

 Statistic Box :
Go to properties select New sheet objects  Statistic box

 Number tab :
Here you can choose the function whether to find the sum, average etc. The font,
layout and caption help to change the colour and look of the table.
After fill in all the required field you will get as below :

 Buttons :
Create the button by right clicking and selecting the option New sheet objects and go
to buttons.

 Buttons :
Go to General tab  give the title or the name for the button and choose colour for
the button.

 Actions Tab :
This tab gives the action to the created Button. When you click on it then selections
would be selected.
