WORK EXPERIENCE
Plant Breeding Technician March 2019-May2021
Faculty of Sciences, Antananarivo – Madagascar
• Generated (3) three rice lines and (3) three maize lines hybrid from back-cross for
progeny test in the greenhouse trial,
• Screened (6) six mutant rice lines that have a high yield in the field and the greenhouse
(2.5 to 4.5t/ha for the mutant and up to 0.25 t/ha for the parent),
• Identified adequate media culture for Paulownia seeds germination and in
vitro propagation.
• Set up and maintained field, greenhouse and laboratory equipment
Plant Breeding Technician June 2018-March2019
Joint FAO/IAEA Division, Plant Breeding and Genetics Laboratory Unit, Austria-Seibersdorf
• Optimized screening protocol for the advanced mutant rice, maize, and Sorghum
resistant to the weed Striga species from laboratory and greenhouse trial,
• Released of advanced 13 rainfed mutant rice lines and 16 mutant maize lines as
resistant to Striga asiatica, and one mutant rice line resistant to Striga hermonthica,
• Identified (3) three mutants Sorghum lines most promising to withstand the obligate
root parasite Striga hermonthica,
• Assessed Striga resistance mechanism from (7) seven advanced mutants of rice by
the rhizotron method in the growth chamber room with the controlled condition.
Plant Breeding Research Assistant Mars 2016-May 2018
Faculty of Sciences, Antananarivo – Madagascar
• Screened 38 rainfed mutant rice lines from M5 generation and 44 mutant maize lines
from M6 generation as resistant and tolerant to Striga asiatica in the field trial
• Developed and managed a breeding program/plant/seed breeding schedule and
associated activities,
• Developed a plant breeding team succession plan during the field, laboratory, and
greenhouse experiments,
• Determined adequate media for germination and propagation of the mature embryo
of pepper (Capsicum annuum (L.)) in tissue culture.
Biotechnologist research assistant October 2015-Mars 2016
Joint FAO/IAEA Division, Plant Breeding and Genetics Laboratory Unit, Austria-Seibersdorf
• Characterized the maize and rice mutant lines from a low-cost molecular method,
• Identified adequate media for maize microspore and anther culture in tissue culture.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE
Technical research collaborator January 2014-October 2015
Faculty of Sciences, Antananarivo - Madagascar
• Collaborated with the multidisciplinary research team (Animal Biology-Geologist-
Economist-Human Sciences),
• Supervised plant breeding team (student, staff) in the laboratory, in the greenhouse,
and the field,
• Trained, supervised and led more than five students per year at the laboratory,
greenhouse, and in the field experiments.
