Choice Board Directions

From the choice board provided, students will choose and complete 3 activities on the board
that make tic-tac-toe.
- Student must complete 3 activities that go diagonal, horizontal, or vertical.
- All students MUST complete the Simulation Lab that is in the middle square of the
choice board
Below are detailed directions on how to complete each activity.

Simulation Lab (ALL students must complete)


Complete Evolution Lab on PBS Nova. There are six missions that you must complete. To
receive credit for this activity, screenshot or print proof that you have successfully completed
all the missions.
Gizmo
Click on the Natural Selection Gizmo link embedded in the square (and here) along with the
student exploration worksheet link. Click “Launch Gizmo” on the website to start the Natural
Selection simulation. You will work through the Gizmo as it will guide you through the
worksheet. Submit worksheet as proof and a grade for this activity.
Flashcards
Create your own academic vocabulary flashcards that are digital or a paper copy. Make sure to
include the word on one side and the definition on the other side. Also, provide an example of
how to use the word in a sentence. Submit URL with your completed flashcards or turn them
into me to grade.
Quiz/Trivia
With a partner (optional) you will create a digital trivia game or quiz using Quizlet or Kahoot!. If
you want to use another website to create your activity, you may do so but please ask for
approval first. There should be at least 15 questions and answers. All questions should relate
the standards you learned about during the unit. Submit URL with completed quiz or trivia to
receive a grade.
Photo Book
Take at least 4 photos of living organisms that demonstrate a concept learned in this unit. All
photos have to be taken by you, not copied from the internet. For each photo, you must
provide a brief description about how the photo connects to evolution, natural selection, or
adaption (the material learned from this unit). Submit photo book via URL or printed copy (can
be digital or physical copy) for a grade.
Questions/Answers
Read the CK-12 text, 16.8 Adaptation and Evolution of Populations. This digital text contains
videos and other resources for greater learning. Make sure to watch the provided videos as
they will help you with this assignment. Then, answer the questions in the Review and Explore
More sections. You may answer your questions on a digital tool (Google Docs, Microsoft Word)
or you may write them on paper. Either submit answers via email or physically turn in.
Journal Entry
Watch the video Survival of the Fittest on YouTube. Then, write a journal entry about what you
learned. This entry should include Darwin’s theories to natural selection and adaptation. Make
sure your journal entry is at least 6-7 sentences.
Podcast
Listen to the podcast “Are We Still Evolving?” on Spotify (free with ads). Write a reflection on
whether you believe humans are still evolving. Support your stance with evidence from the
podcast and knowledge you gained from the unit material. Your reflection should be well
organized and at least 6-7 sentences.
Music Video
Create an original song and music video about a topic or summary of this unit, Natural Selection
and Adaptation. You can work in a group of 2-4 other students. Make sure your music video
and song are at least 2 minutes long. Then, upload your video to YouTube or other social media
and submit URL.
