Please collect some *Waste Material* at home as you will be doing an Eco-Design project during
this week.

This week, you will be working on An “Eco-design Project” to create a “Recycled Product” out
of the waste materials you have collected.

Some suggested waste materials to have:

i) A used T-shirt (for which you can teach us how to make a tote bag)
ii) Empty glass bottles
iii) Empty plastic bottles
iv) Old CD's
v) Newspapers

Explore new ways and ideas for recycled products on the Internet using any search engine.
Interesting and unique ways to use certain products can be found on Pinterest. Do have a look!
You can make more items if you like.

*Do have Scissors, Tape and Glue with you during the design process*

Then record your responses as follows:

Which waste material have you selected to recycle? Describe in a sentence and share a photo
of that material.
 Waste Cartons.

From where did you get the idea to recycle that waste material? Share the source name and
weblink.
 I got the idea from YouTube. https://youtu.be/tmhjTHyQbBM
Take another photo during the design process. (Avoid your face to be captured.)
How long did it take you to complete your project? Write total time invested.
 It took almost 6-7 hours.
Give name to your newly designed recycled Product.
 Jewelry Box.
Describe the purpose/use of that recycled product in one sentence.
 We can place jewelry, watches, and other accessories in this box.
Share the photos/videos (here as well as on “Introduction to IT” Facebook group) captured
at the start, middle and end of the design process. i.e. photo of the waste material being used,
photo of the unfinished product and photo of the final product).

Whom would you like to give/present it?

 I would like to give this box to my sister.
What was their reaction after getting that product? Record their comments here.
 She was very happy that I made this box. She said, “Work more hard and keep it up, this
is so beautiful and I will love to use it. Thank you”.
Reflect on your entire learning experience by responding to the following prompts:
How did you feel at the start of this project?
 I was confused that if this box made up correctly or not, If not then what would I do?
What did you learn during the selection of waste material?
 There are a lot of things we all waste on daily basis. We should not do that and think about
creative ideas to use them all in another way.
What did you learn new during the design process?
 I learn to take feedback and listen other’s opinion in order to improve.
How did you feel after completing the design project?
 I am feeling so happy that I achieve this goal, after many hours of hard work and dedication.
How did you feel after receiving the feedback from the person you presented that product?
 I felt inner peace and happiness, that I became the reason of somebody’s smile.
How confident are you to teach this design project to your younger sibling?
 I’m much confident to teach this design because now I’m experienced this by myself and
I know my mistakes that shouldn’t be repeated.
Tell us how will you spread awareness about the *importance of recycling* through this
product.
 We can convert waste material into useful product and also we can save money by doing
this.
What will you tell others about “why it is important to recycle?”
 It is important because there is almost nothing which is useless, we can make useful
products by little creativity and effort.
What kind of IT skills have been used in this project?
 I use “Snap pic collage” for editing these pictures.
 I use browsing to search the material.
