Your Task

America has elected a new President who has

decided that Washington D.C.’s bureaucracy has
grown out of control. Your cabinet might be axed!

To save your job, your group must create a

slideshow and presentation “selling” your
department.
Instructions
If you so choose you may make a copy of the templates on slides 3-4.
Create a Google slide and presentation for your departments to
convince the president not to cut it.

Your slides should include all of the following:

● The name of your department
● The name of the current leading official of your department
● The duties and responsibilities of your department
● How the department is important to today’s current issues. Refer to at
least 1 issues your department is currently dealing with
● At least 2 visuals (picture, graph, etc.)

Please submit your slides to Canvas AND paste them to the master
slideshow HERE so your classmates can access them if needed again.

● Maintains outdoor recreation facilities like national parks
● Works for the conservation of natural landscapes
● Preserves species and their habitats
● Protects energy security and natural resources, jobs in those fields
● Maintains relations with native populations

Leader is Miguel -Equal education opportunity for students
-Increase accountability in Federal Education programs
Cardona -Increase public involvement in federal education programs
-Provides grants, loans, and work-study assistance.

Importance of Department
-Provides equal opportunity for all students to get and receive education from a school
-Provides improvements to the curriculum and program to ensure students are learning well
-Help relieve students especially in college with loans and other grants to make college less of a burden
-Helps adults still receive classes and education so they can get a highschool diploma.

Importance of Department
● Enforces fair housing rules and addresses America’s housing needs through:
○ Affordable housing
○ Rental, mortgage, and loan assistance
○ Suitable living conditions

Without the Department of HUD there would be little to no regulation on living

conditions for Americans.
