E Description

Engagement Poem:
One day I saw a little rabbit
Going hop, hop, hop.
I said, “Hello, little rabbit.
Can you stop, stop, stop?”

I ask the students where do they think the rabbit is going? Who is asking the rabbit to stop?
What is another name for rabbit? I like to draw my own rabbit on the board and compare it to a
rabbit that we research. This allows for students to see real life rabbits and what they might do
in wildlife and later assist them with their illustration.

Engagement Students will respond verbally based on comprehension of the text.

Assessment

Exploration I will first read the poem to the students, then have the students read with me, and finally
rotating around the room allowing the students to read independently. This skill builds fluency in
reading. This discussion will take place during whole group.
