1. PURPOSE
1.1. To define the procedural steps associated with the lifting, transportation of cable drums, cable
CONTENTS
2. RESPONSIBILITY
2.1. It is responsibility of the Project Manager, together with Site Supervisor, Site Engineer, QA/QC,
lifting supervisor, safety team to establish successful implementation and maintenance of these
procedures.
3. SCOPE OF WORK
The scope of work for the LV Cabling work is listed in the following.
Installation of LV cable for entire project of MSB , SSB , lighting , small power and pa system .

6. MATERIAL USED
6.1. The materials used for the installation works shall be in compliance to those approved in material
schedule. The following are the materials used for the LV Cabling installation:-
6.1.1. XLPE/PVC, XLPE/SWA/PVC, XLPE/AWA/PVC, PVC CABLE
6.1.2. Angle bar
6.1.3. U channel
7. INSTALLATION METHOD
7.1. Preparation(By Site Supervisor)
7.1.1. Verify drawings and check cable schedule. Inspect cable routing condition and location if in
accordance with drawing and obtain approval prior to installation.

7.5. Installation/Laying of LV cables (Site Supervisor)
7.5.1. Carry out installation work in accordance with relevant drawings and specifications.
Attention shall be paid to Technical specifications and site SAFETY & SECURITY REQUIREMENT
at all times.
7.5.2. Ensure that area is well lift and necessary temporary lighting will be provided.
7.5.3. Ensure that no sharp edge for cable pulling. Use rubber or PVC pipe to cover the sharp edge.
7.5.4. Set up pre – fabricated steel cable stand on a solid and level ground
7.5.5. Lift the cable drum by using hydraulic jack fitted below the cable drum stand
7.5.6. Provide suitable distance between ground level and cable drum, to enable cable drum rolled
without obstruction
7.5.7. Cable megger test to be done with QA/QC prior start pulling cable
7.5.8. Check cable direction & pull cable from directions that required the least tension
7.5.9. Provide temporary scaffolding to be enough space for worker standing to pull cable
7.5.10. Commence cable pulling (manually) only after receiving signal from the supervisor by means
of walkie-talkie or whistle, all group leaders must be equipped with the abovementioned
communication tools.
7.5.11. To prevent the cable falling from height or flow down when pulling, ensure the rope is tie on
the scaffolding pipe as per drawings attached.
7.5.12. Precede cable pulling manually and with care until it reached the final
destination/termination points.
7.5.13. Ensure adequate length is provided at the both ends of termination points before cutting
the cable.
7.5.14. If the actual cable length required from source to destination is more than compared to
cable length mentioned in the cable schedule, pull the accordingly to site condition, update
cable length pulled in the cable schedule and update documents.
7.5.15. Ensure that cable pulling machines is in place & approved to use for bigger cable size.
7.5.16. Ensure that the cable support is in correct location & elevation.
7.5.17. Ensure that the support assembly is securely fixed in place
7.5.18. Ensure that the cable rollers were in place and fixed properly.
7.5.19. Ensure manpower with complete PPE is available for work execution
7.5.20. Ensure adequate manpower is provided at correct interval and all PPE’s are provided
especially hand gloves and Full Body Harness.

7.5.21. Cable pulling persons shall not stand on cable ladders/trays during cable pulling
7.5.22. Provide safe access for cable pulling men.
7.5.23. Cables shall be aligned, arranged and dressed properly and fixed with suitable approved
cable ties.
7.5.24. The length of cable pulled to be properly documented and accurate record of all cable
pulled from drum must be kept.
7.5.25. If cable cannot be terminate immediately after installation, ensure cable kept properly
7.5.26. temporary marking of cable number shall be provided at both ends with permanent
marker/pen similarly.
7.5.27. Repeat the same procedures as mention until all cable pulling/installation are completed.
7.5.28. Request for inspection and get ready for hand – over.
8. TESTING
8.1. Delivery cable drum inspection will be Consultants upon received.
8.2. Carry out inspection of the laid cables works in accordance with project specification.
8.3. Check for any visible damages. If any damage found after pulling inform Consultaqnts and
corrective action shall be taken before glanding and termination takes place.
8.4. Check for correct cable alignment
8.5. Check installation against installation drawings(i.e. support fabrication cable routing)
8.6. Check cable ties
8.7. Perform test & record cable installation in accordance to project documentation forms.
8.8. Provide QC inspection sticker on the tested cable with initial and date.

9. SAFETY & SECURITY REQUIREMENT
9.1. Ensure all workers attend the EHS induction training conducted by NCSB.
9.2. Workers with valid badge entry issued by NCSB are allow to enter the site.
9.3. EHS personnel to brief all CEC workers regarding EHS compliance at daily tool box meeting.
9.4. Ensure all activity has a valid work permit with necessary documents attach prior starting work.
9.5. Barricade the work area with high risk pose.
9.6. Display proper signage according to work activity.
9.7. Use proper access and egress.
9.8. Wearing proper PPE according to work activity.
9.9. Scaffolding activities(refer to external documents-DOSH/ Legislation / Guidelines For Approval of
Design Scaffolding 2016.
9.10. Lifting activities(refer to external documents-DOSH/ Legislation /Guidelines for crane lifting work /
2005)
9.11. Work at height activities(refer to external documents-DOSH/ Legislation / Guidelines for the
Prevention of Falls at Workplaces/ 2007)
9.12. Work in confined spaces(refer to external documents-DOSH/ Legislation/ Codes of Practice/
Industrial Hygiene/ Industry Code of Practice for Safe Working in a Confined Space, 2010).

10. HOUSEKEEPING
10.1. Ensure all materials are placed in designated area.
10.2. Good housekeeping shall be maintained at site all times-before, during and after.
10.3. All place of work shall be free from obstruction and any tripping hazards
10.4. Waste materials shall be collected and dispose off at the end of every working day with
appropriate approval from NCSB.
