INTRODUCTION:
The world is facing different and various issues today and we’re here to discuss it. We’ll discuss
one of the biggest and rising problem of today’s generation which is Climate Change. What is
Climate Change? Climate Change is any significant long-term change in the expected patterns of
average weather of a region (or the whole earth) over a significant period of time. We’re also
here to talk about Coral Reefs. Coral Reefs are beautiful, colorful, and the cornerstone of a
healthy ocean ecosystem, it is also often called as the “rainforest of the sea”, they host a variety
of sea life and it is a crucial habitat for about 25% of all ocean species. Climate Change is
affecting the world staggeringly. Melting of ice in other region, unpredictable weather changes,
and even forest fires that we can all see in the news.
METHODOLOGY:
We used Google and we searched for different information through different sites and we
compared information with who is more accurate and we also based on current news and updates
about the subject. (ocean conservancy.org, ocean service.com, mnm.com,)

RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS:

 What are the effects of Climate Change in the country?
Philippines is facing a big problem when it comes to climate change, it affects the agriculture
and some businesses and because of climate change the health of the Filipinos are being at stake
due to the immediate change in the weather, animals and plants are also affected.

 What are the effects of Climate Change to Coral Reefs?

Climate Change dramatically affects the Coral Reefs. A warming ocean causes thermal stress
that contributes to coral bleaching. Changes in storm patterns that leads to a stronger and more
frequent storms that can cause the destruction of coral reefs. Ocean acidification causes a
reduction in pH levels which decreases coral growth and structural integrity.

 What is the most important role of the Coral Reefs?

Coral Reefs acts as a barrier that protects us from huge waves, it reduces a waves energy up to
97%, it also absorbs 86% of a waves power before it reaches the reef flat or lagoon and another
most important role of Coral Reefs is it serves as a home for marine animals.
 What is the current state of coral reefs in the Philippines
Apo reef is one of the famous coral reef in the Philippines but after years of overfishing, lethal
chemical pollution, destructive coral mining, sedimentation and climatic change had been
detrimetal, resulting in acidification and coral bleaching some of its parts have already been
destroyed, but necessary steps and solution are being done to preserve it.

CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS:

In the end Climate Change has no good effect in any aspect on this world, all it causes are bad
and harmful effects. Our recommendations are we should be responsible of our actions and we
should be alarmed about this, at times like this even the smallest deeds can make a big change.
Coral Reefs are very important in our ecosystem it provides more than enough not only to the
marine animals but also for humans and the people who lives close to the sea. So for us to still
enjoy this wonderful creation we should take care of it and give it importance.
