The lie

I'm Ellie and I'm just a regular 17 year old girl l live with my mom carol my dad died when I
was young . it have always been just my mom and I we were every close .
One day about a year ago I have a school project and I want something from the attic. I
have never been up to the attic before I went to look for something for my project and
spotted my mom box and inside was a photo albums of her when she was young then l saw
a picture of when was pregnant it was weird she look much younger in these pictures .
I thought she were 41 when she made me .she looked about 20 here then I realized that
she must had have a baby many years ago .l turned the page and pictures of her growing up
. But why didn't my mom said any about her or even mention her name. I came out of the
attic went downstairs and confronted my mom with the album holding the album In my left
hand when she see the album she look shocked. She starts shouting at me for going
through her stuffs.
I asked her if she had a baby before me she said yes. She told me that before I was born
she had a girl name Melanie . Melanie was the first child .she lived here until she was 18 she
ran away from home .I was so angry at mom for lying to me all those years I had a older
sister I didn't even knew about. I wanted what have she done wrong . I went on Facebook to
look for her I sent a message and didn't get back one the next day.
A few days me and mellanie where texting every night every day we have a lot in common.
I didn't tell mom about I melanie and that we were talking.then one day mom found out I left
my phone downstairs in the kitchen and mom had seen the message from melanie pop up
on my phone screen she shouted at me for going behind her back but I shouted back and
tell her she shouldn't have lie to me I grib my bag and stormed out of the house I knew
where I had to go.
I wanted to find Melanie so I caught a bus to the next town to find her . I didn't know the
name of the doctor she work for so I just went from one office to the other asking about
Melanie then I walk in to one and saw a women on the phone she looked like a older vision
of me it was her I said to myself. I stood in the corner of the room wave to her . I thought that
she would be pleased to see me but when she realized who I was she look scared when she
got phone the phone she walk up to me and ask me what I was doing at her work place . I
told her that I wanted to surprise her . She took a back from work and took me to a coffee
shop down the road . When I say the she told me that I shouldn't have came looking her her
. I felt so crush I couldn't believe that I had found I had a sister only for her not to wanted
anything to do with me.
Few minutes we talk I asked her why she left and she said it was because she knew that
carol would be a much better mom than she could have been . I wasn't expecting her to say
that I stood up knocking my chair over people in the coffee shop turn and looked at me but I
didn't care . Wait I don't understand I said is this mean your actually my mom I shouted out .
Oh my god what do you mean Melanie said. She try to get me to sit down so she can
explain.i don't think she wanted me to make a seen . But I didn't care I shouted at her to
answer my question .yes! She said I'm your real mom. I don't get it I shouted back at her my
mom is carol melanie shock her head and told e the truth . Carol is actually her mom not
mine I couldn't believe it . The women I thought was my mom all my life was in fact my
grandmother I don't believe you I screamed as I ran out of the coffee shop crying I ignored
Melanie running after me I never wanna see her again I went back home why would Melanie
say such a horrible lie when I got home I saw a police car outside in went inside saw my
mom on the chair crying I went and give her a big hug and ask her what was wrong she told
me that she had call the police because she was worried about me.
That day my I'm and I had a long talk that even I told her what Melanie told me hoping mom
tell that it's all a lie she shock her head and cried she said that I was now old enough to
know the truth about our family she told me that when Melanie was a teenager she had got
involved with the people and got addicted to drugs she even sold money from her . She
move in with her friends and mom hardly saw her and couldn't help her then one day
Melanie turned up on her door step with me I was only a few days old Melanie said couldn't
handle me .so she left her with mom that was the last time mom saw Melanie. I couldn't
believe that mom lie to me I ran upstairs and lock myself in my room I didn't know who I was
any more I refuse to speak to mom and I block Melanie on Facebook. How ever I couldn't go
on with my life like that I had tunes of questions to be answered.the more that pass the more
I feel to talk to her . I unblock Melanie I ask her questions that was a few months ago I finally
be able to for give mom for lying to me for all these years . I realize that even though my
birth mom couldn't be a good mom to me my grandmother was the best mom anyone could
ever wish for . There was no way that I would be mad at her. My relationship with my birth
mom is still developing she apologized for how hash she were in the past she promise me
that she hasn't taking drugs for a long time letting her in my life wasn't easy but I can't say
that I'm not happy that I met her not only that but my mom has let her in too and their making
up for the time last together. I couldn't see from the way she behaves that she regret the past
and she's trying hard to regained her trust.
