Introduction: With the development of the modern wireless communi- where L is the total length of the U-shaped slots and H-shaped slot, 1re is

recently because of their advantages such as high speed data, and into consideration in achieving the dimensions of the H-shaped slot and

of UWB antennas have been presented for these applications [1 –7].
However, over the required UWB bandwidth, narrow bands used by

WLAN operating at 5 – 6 GHz and X-band at 7.7 – 8.5 GHz coexist.
It is desirable to design an UWB antenna with dual notched bands in 9

Also it is difficult to fabricate and adjust the central frequency of the
notch band. In this Letter, a coplanar-waveguide (CPW)-fed UWB 3
antenna with dual band-notch characteristic is investigated numerically 2
and experimentally. By cutting two U-shaped slots in the radiation
patch and an H-shaped slot in the CPW ground, two band-notched fre- 1

UWB systems and narrow band systems.

Experiment results and discussion: According to the design rules

described above, an UWB antenna with dual rejection band at WLAN/
X-band is presented numerically and experimentally. The proposed
antenna is simulated using the Ansoft high frequency structure simulator
(HFSS) based on the finite element method (FEM). The optimised
antenna was fabricated and tested. The VSWR is obtained by a
HP8757D vector network analyser. The simulated and measured
VSWRs of the proposed dual band-notch characteristic antenna and
the UWB antenna without the H-shaped slot and the U-shaped slots
