Semi-Detailed Lesson Plan in Math 9 March 25, 2021: I-Objectives
III- STRATEGIES:
Teacher's Activity
Preliminaries:
In a minute, we will start our class discussion. May I request Sir/Ma’am _____________ to
lead the prayer.
Good Morning Class.
Please sit down and prepare for our lesson
Checking of attendance “May I know who are absents?” “Kindly count off”
Checking of assignments "Do we have an assignment?
So, how are you today?
Alright!
"Before anything else."
"May I ask you something? How to make a meaningful and productive discussion?
"Be cooperative, responsive and attentive all throughout the lesson discussion’’.
How could you transform exponential expressions to radical expressions & vice versa?
Very Good!
Motivation:
Since you already have the knowledge of what was all about radicals, let’s have an activity.
(4 PICS 1 WORD)
Based on the activity that we had, what do you think is our topic for today?
Very good!
Now, in connection to our topic, let's have our discussion through the ff. objectives.
(Reading of Objectives)
1. simplify radical expressions;
2. identify similar and dissimilar radicals;
3. perform addition and subtraction of radical expressions using the laws of radicals.
LESSON PROPER
A. ANALYSIS
How did you find our activity today? Is it interesting? Have you learned something?
May I ask somebody to give an example of radical expression?
Very good!
(Teacher gives further analysis on radical expressions through PowerPoint presentation.)
B. ABSTRACTION
Two or more radicals can only be added & subtracted to a single radical if the radical
parts are similar.
√ 2 & 3 √ 2 ----- SIMILAR √ 3∧¿ √3 3 ----- DISSIMILAR
EXAMPLES:
1. 2 √3+ 4 √ 3 =6 √ 3
3 3
2. 6 √ x−√ x+5 √ x =5 √ x+5 √ x
4. 3 √ 12−2 √ 3 =3 √ 4.3−2 √ 3
=3(2) √3−2 √3
=4 √3
Do you have any question?, if none, let’s proceed to our another activity.
C. ACTIVITIES
Activity 1 (Let’s Simplify!)
Direction: Simplify each of the following. Assume that the variables are positive.
Identify the side lengths of a square box or the dimensions of a square lot if you know
its area?
Solve for the length of any side of a right triangle?
Find the radius of a cylindrical water tank?
IV- ASSESSMENT
What is the name of the 4th highest mountain in the world?
Direction: Decode the answer by finding the sum and difference of the following radical expressions.
Write the letter of the answer corresponding to the item in the box provided below.
V- ENRICHMENT
Direction: Find the sum or difference of each radical expressions.
