COMPETENCY-BASED CURRICULUM

A. Course Design

Course Title: Shielded Metal Arc Welding NC III


Nominal Duration: 120 hours
Qualification Level: NC II
Course Description: This course is designed to enhance the knowledge, skills and
attitudes in Shielded Metal Arc Welding in accordance with industry
standards. It covers core competencies such as Welding Alloy Steel
Plates using SMAW.

TRAINEE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS


Trainees or students wishing to gain entry into this course should possess the following
requirements:

 Must have completed training in SMAW NC II or a holder of SMAW NC II


 can communicate either oral and written
 physically and mentally fit
 with good moral character
 can perform basic mathematical computation

TRAINERS QUALIFICATIONS FOR SMAW WELDER SHIELDED METAL ARC WELDING


NC III TRAINER QUALIFICATION (TQ III)


 Must be a holder of SMAW Welder NC IV
 Must have undergone training on Training Methodology III (TM III)
 Must be physically and mentally fit
 *Must have at least 2 years job/industry experience
 Must be a civil service eligible (for government position or appropriate professional license
issued by the Professional Regulatory Commission)
