1 x 3 Rails: Rail Length = Flat Width Note: 1-1/2” is two times the framing member thickness of 3/4”

1 x 3 Stiles: Stile Length = Flat Height – 1-1/2”

1 x 3 Toggles: (Flat Width – 1-1/2”) = Toggle Length Hollywood Flats need a toggle every 2’

¼” Lauan Skin: If the flat is 4’ x 8’ or smaller, use one sheet with the same dimensions as the flat. If the flat is
larger than 4’ x 8’ it will require 2 pieces. Use the formula below.
Piece 1 = (Flat Width) X 8’-0” Piece 2 = (Flat Width) X (Flat Height - 8’-0”)

Example: 3’ x 12’ flat Piece 1—3’-0” X 8’-0” Piece 2—3’-0” X 4’-0”

Hard-Covered Broadway Flat – 1 x 3 frame with ¼” Lauan skin. Skin mounts to the face of the framing members

1 x 3 Rails: Rail Length = Flat Width Note: 5” is two times the framing member width of 2-1/2”

1 x 3 Stiles: Stile Length = Flat Height – 5”

1 x 3 Toggles: (Flat Width – 5”) = Toggle Length Broadway Flats need a toggle every 4’

¼” Ply Corner Blocks--One Corner Block per flat corner. ¼” Ply Straps--Two straps for each toggle

¼” Lauan Skin: If the flat is 4’ x 8’ or smaller, use one sheet with the same dimensions as the flat. If the flat is
larger than 4’ x 8’ it will require 2 pieces. Use the formula below.
Piece 1 = (Flat Width) X 8’-0” Piece 2 = (Flat Width) X (Flat Height -8’-0”)

Example: 3’-6” x 10’-6” flat Piece 1—3’-6” X 8’-0” Piece 2—3’-6” X 2’-6”

Platform – 2 x 4 frame with ¾” Plywood deck. Deck mounts to the edge of the framing members

2 x 4 Rails: Rail Length = Platform Width Note: 3” is x2 the Framing Thickness of 1-1/2”

2 x 4 Stiles: Stile Length = Platform Length – 3”

2 x 4 Toggles: Toggle Length = Platform Width – 3” Platforms need a toggle every 2’

2 x 4 Legs: Platforms require a leg in each corner and no more than 4’ of distance between each leg
Standard Platform Legs: Leg Length = (Desired Platform height) – (Lid thickness or ¾”)
Example: 40” tall platform with standard leg: 40” - 3/4”= 39-¼”

Compression Legs: Leg Length = (Desired Platform height) – (Platform Thickness or 4-1/4”)
Example: 40” tall platform with standard leg: 40” - 3/4”= 39-¼”
Remember: each compression leg is attached with a ¾” ply scab

¾” Ply Skin: If the platform is 4’ x 8’ or smaller, use one sheet with the same dimensions as the platform. If the platform is
longer than 8’ or wider than 4’ it will require 2 or more pieces. Use the formula below.
Piece 1 = (Platform Width) X 8’-0” Piece 2 = (Platform Width) X (Platform Length -8’-0”)

Example: 2’ x 11’ Platform Piece 1—2’-0” X 8’-0” Piece 2—2’-0” X 3’-0”
