Alright thank you! MAGIC NUMBER 3!

Cubism was a movement that began in

France in the early 20th Century by
Spanish artist Pablo Picasso and
French artist Georges Picasso Georges.
Cubism rejected the idea of using
perspective to create art as seen in
nature. It was geometric and two
dimensional geometric. Objects were
“broken apart” and the pieces could be
viewed from all sides.
This is Pablo Picasso
Pablo Picasso!
Pablo Picasso Pablo Picasso was born
on October 25, 1881, in Malaga, Spain,
as the son of an art and drawing
teacher. He was a brilliant student. He
passed the entrance examination for the
Barcelona School of Fine Arts at the
age of 14 in just one day and was
allowed to skip the first two classes.

Again, class who is he?

Wow! It seems that you are really

listening!
Next is Georges Braque
Teacher’s Activity Pupils’ Activity
Georges Braque developed his painting
skills while working for his father, a
house decorator. He moved to Paris in
1900 to study where he was drawn to
the work of the Fauve artists, including
Matisse, Derain, and Dufy, as well as
the late landscapes of Cézanne. Georges Braque!
Meeting Picasso marked a huge turning
point in Braque's development and

together they evolved as leaders of
Cubism.

Who is he?

Who wants to click the one part of the

flag again?
All the students are raising their hands.

Thank you!
We have (3) Three stages:
Early Cubism 1906 – 1909
Analytical Cubism 1909 – 1912
Synthetic Cubism 1912 – 1914

Let us see what are they, again who

wants to click another part of the flag?

Yes! were almost there!

Early Cubism: depiction of the whole
structure of the object and its position in
space, combining different viewpoints.
Teacher’s Activity Pupils’ Activity
Like this picture
All the students are raising their hands.
Click one picture.

Thank you!
Analytical Cubism: breaking down of
the subject and the space around it into
angular planes or facets that record
different viewpoints and information; no
interest in color or texture.
This is one example of analytical from
Braque.

Next part of the flag

The third is…

Synthetic Cubism: collages of
interlocked fragments of newspaper,
wallpaper, and labels with fragments of
painting, drawing, and writing; color
reintroduced & texture & pattern.
Teacher’s Activity Pupils’ Activity
If we have cubist artist from Paris and
that is Picasso and Braque, of course
here in the Philippines we have also
and that is…
Who wants to know?
Okay click the two parts of the flag and
let us know him.

This is Vicente Manansala

Vicente Manansala was a Filipino cubist

painter and illustrator, born in
Macabebe, Philippines in 1910 and died
of cancer in Manila, Philippines in 1981.
Manansala was the developer of
transparent cubism. A fine example of
this "transparent and translucent"
technique is his composition, Kalabaw
(Carabao) He is known for fusing the
cultures of the barrio and the city in his
paintings. These are his works.
