our anxieties about life with all its changes. He assures us

St. Giles Opening: The church is now open for services.
Please see the Worship Calendar for details. The church is
also open between 14:00 and 16:00 on Wednesday afternoons
for personal prayer and reflection.
Skelton Village Hall. The Hall will reopen fully on September
1st. Bookings can now be made for events taking place after

Skelton Gardening Club, We are always pleased to welcome
guests (£3) & new members (£15 for the year).
Skelton Walking Group For details of future meetings ring

Coffee, Chat and Books will return every 1st Friday of the
month from 3rd September under the new name ‘Mandy’s
Community Cafe’ from 11-1 pm. Join us for soup, cakes,
refreshments and a chat. Family, friends and neighbours all
welcome. In need of a book to read? Pop in and pick one from
our large selection 50p each or 3 for £1. (Any profit made from
the cafe will be used to fund the following months cafe)
Skelton Social Running Group A casual running group
meets on Tuesday nights, 6.30pm at the green on St.
Catherines Close. We usually run 5km (3 miles) in a small
group. Everyone welcome & if enough people we can split into
different groups for different distances & speeds. Contact us
via the Skelton Community Share Facebook group.
Mobile Library in Skelton. The Mobile Library visits Skelton
every two weeks. Borrow books, update your library card or

York Card, return books from any other York library, & request
books to be brought to Skelton. The library stops in Fairfields
Drive from 2.40pm to 3.10pm and Brecksfield from 3.15pm to

Shipton Parish Council Parish Council meetings will continue
on Zoom for the foreseeable. Members of the public welcome.

Shipton By Beningbrough Playground Club
Congratulations to the winners of the Shipton By Beningbrough
Playground June 2021 100 Club draw, drawn by Rob on Sat
5th June at Tesco Clifton Moor Customer Service. 1st Prize
£58.74 Victoria Giannini (ticket 25) 2nd Prize £29.38 Garry
Carter (ticket 30), 3rd Prize £29.38 Rita Chapman (ticket 24).
Victoria and Rita have kindly donated their winnings back to
the Playground fund. The 2021 playground 100 Club currently
has 94 members, if you would like details of how to join, at a
cost of £30 per year, please contact me by email on
dawnmalloy@btinternet.com. The money raised from the
Shipton Playground 100 club goes towards the maintenance
running costs and new equipment for our playground. Thanks
again everyone, the next draw will be in July.

BENINGBROUGH NEWS
Churchyard Tidy-up Day: This will be on Saturday 24th July. If
you can spare an hour to help us tidy the churchyard (grass-
cutting, trimming, weeding, etc), please come along from 10 a.m.
to lend a hand. Any and all help will be very gratefully received.
Tools are limited, so please bring your own if
possible. Refreshments will be provided throughout the
day. Thank you.
Church Reopening: We are delighted to announce that All
Saints will reopen for Sunday services and Life Events
(Baptisms, Weddings and Funerals) on Sunday 25th
July. Please see the Worship Calendar for details of times and
services. The full reopening of the church will be at a date in
August to be advertised in the community forums, church
Facebook page, church website, and by village email. If
government restrictions are once again extended beyond 19th
July, please book your place at the service on 25th July by
emailing sbdow@allsaintsnewton.org.uk.
Foodbank Collection: The next collection for York Foodbank
will be between 10 and 11 a.m. on Thursday 8th July at All
Saints Lych Gate. Items needed will be listed on the community
forums. Please help us to provide for those in need. Even one or
two items would be much appreciated.

deceased loved one in the church’s new Book of Remembrance,

Christian Aid: Thank you to Newton Village. We posted
envelopes through everyone’s doors, and the wonderful
response gave us £366.76 for the work of Christian Aid in many
