 Good evening ladies and gentlemen, thank you for having me
today.
 For those of you who don’t know me already, my name’s Kieu.
 As you can see on the screen, our topic today is “ EFFECTIVE
WAYS TO AVOID OBESITY”. I’m sure it’s everyone’s favorite
discussion topic. But, I promise over the next 3 minutes, you will
learn a lot of measures to prevent overweight.
 Before we begin, I wanted to highlight exactly what I want you to
take away from this presentation.
 First - The reality of Obesity
 Second- What are the bad influences of Obesity
 Third and most important - Effective ways to avoid Obesity
 First of all, I’d like to give you an overview of the problem we’re
facing, that is Obesity or Overweight
     I. The reality of Obesity
 The world today is facing various complex diseases. Out of them,
obesity is one.So, what is Obesity? It’s the state of being well
above one's normal weight. A body mass index (BMI) over 25 is
considered overweight, and over 30 is obese.
-Vietnam's Obesity Rates Increased the Fastest in Southeast Asia
in 5 Years (Written by Saigoneer)
Thanks to rising wealth and changing diet preferences, the rate of
obesity is increasing fast in Vietnam, according to data from the
report. In the period of 2010–2014, the number of obese
Vietnamese increased by 38%, the most in Southeast Asia and
among the highest in the world.
- 86% of children in Vietnam’s urban areas are overweight and/or
obese, compared to 35 percent in rural areas, a recent study found.

So, let’s move on to the next points, that are the negative effects of
obesity.

          II. Bad influences of Obesity

Obesity is serious because it is associated with poorer mental
health outcomes and reduced quality of life..
The first one:
1. Nervous system
Being overweight or having obesity greatly increases the risk of
stroke, where blood stops flowing to your brain. Obesity can also
have a profound effect on your mental health. This includes a
higher risk of depression, poor self-esteem, and issues with body
image.
The second one is:
2. Liver disease
Excess fat can build up around your liver, leading to damage
and even liver failure.
And:
3. Cancer
Obesity has been associated with cancer like liver, kidney,
colon, and pancreatic, among others.
And
4. Type 2 diabetes
Did you know that nearly 9 out of 10 people with newly
diagnosed type 2 diabetes are overweight?
Obesity can make your body resistant to insulin and lead to
high blood sugar, increasing your risk of type 2 diabetes.
This leads directly to my next point, that is : How can we
prevent Obesity?
And here are some ways to avoid Obesity:
III. Effective ways to avoid Obesity
1. Exercise regularly:  You need to get 150 to 300 minutes of
moderate-intensity activity a week to prevent weight gain.
Moderately intense physical activities include fast walking
and swimming.
2. Follow a healthy-eating plan: Focus on low-calorie,
nutrient-dense foods, such as fruits, vegetables and whole
grains. Avoid saturated fat and limit sweets and alcohol. Eat
three regular meals a day with limited snacking. You can still
enjoy small amounts of high-fat, high-calorie foods as an
infrequent treat. Just be sure to choose foods that promote a
healthy weight and good health most of the time.
3. Monitor your weight regularly: People who weigh
themselves at least once a week are more successful in
keeping off excess pounds. Monitoring your weight can tell
you whether your efforts are working and can help you detect
small weight gains before they become big problems.
4. Focus on reducing daily stress

Stress can have many effects on the body and mind. Stress may
trigger a brain response that changes eating patterns and leads to
cravings for high-calorie foods. Eating too many high-calorie
foods can contribute to the development of obesity. And here are
some tips that help you reduce daily stress: like do some yoga, go
for a walk or take a deep breath,..

 Well, this brings me to the end of my presentation.

 Let me just run over the the key points again:
First we looked at the facts of obesity, and we saw that
it’s negative effects. And then we considered the effective ways
to avoid Obesity.

  Alright! I hope you’ve learned something today. Thanks for

your attention
 And now, I’ll be happy to answer any questions you may
have.
