Verbs in third person singular - Spelling rules

Add a final -s to verbs: eat > eats sleep >■ sleeps drink > drinks

Add -es to verbs ending in -s, -o, -sh, -ch, -x, -z: go > goes watch >■ watches

Add -ies to verbs ending in -y, preceded by a consonant. Remove the -y: study studies

Add -s if a vowel precedes the final -y of a verb: play > plays stay > stays
