INTRODUCTION

Filipinos are widely known for being clean to themselves but most especially,
with their environment. They believe that the cleanliness always begins with
themselves. It is necessary to keep our environment clean because we get fresh air and
it also reduces pollution. It is true that the environment affects one’s health in different
ways. Once the environment is clean, it can prevent us from having different diseases
but if the surroundings are full of mess, different kinds of diseases can be acquired by
humans.

Everyone should maintain a clean and healthy environment by taking care of

nature and by regularly cleaning in order to protect people from different diseases. Dirty
surroundings are an invitation to various tubes of diseases. Most especially, the
mosquito is the first guest into a dirty place. Dengue virus (DENV) infection is one of the
mosquito-borne viral diseases with a major impact on public health globally (Guzman,
et. al.,2010). Dengue has been a notifiable disease in the Philippines since 1958.
During the review period, the Philippines employed both passive (outpatient and
inpatient). It is epidemic in the Philippines and is considered one of its eighth persuasive
infection diseases. Infection by DENV can be asymptomatic or result in a variety of
clinical manifestations ranging from comparatively mild dengue fever (DF) to severe
disease such as dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) and dengue shocks syndrome
(DSS). The first confirmed epidemic of dengue fever was recorded in the Philippines in
1953 to 1954. Since then, several strategies had been formulated to contain the speed
and increasing incidence of dengue (Yboa, 2013).

The increasing rate of dengue cases in the Philippines this year is extremely
alarming. To term this as a dengue outbreak is a big problem. The people should be
aware about the mosquito-borne disease and keep their houses and surroundings clean
to check the breeding of mosquitos. In the country, it has turned epidemic forcing them
to declare emergency. The province of Batangas ranked third in CALABARZON with the
most dengue cases this year. It is said that the surrounding is one factor that effect on
the spread of dengue-carrier mosquito. Avoiding mosquito bites can prevent a person
from having dengue. Anyone who lives in or travels to an at risk area can use a number
of ways to avoid being bitten such as wearing the right clothing, investing in repellants
and checking for and removing stagnant water can help reduce the risk.
CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK

The Conceptual Framework is presented as follows:

INPUT PROCESS OUTPUT

Respondent’s Age, Sex,

Address
Symptoms first observed.
First Action done when
the symptoms are noticed
Effective way to
Main causes of Dengue Survey Questionnaire prevent dengue
Outcome of having
dengue fever
Best way to prevent
dengue

Paradigm of the Study

The figure shows that the study focuses on the input, process and output.

The inputs are Respondent’s profile. Symptoms first observed, first actions done
when the symptoms are noticed, main causes of dengue, outcome of having dengue
fever, and best way to prevent dengue.

There is an arrow point on the second box which mean input were assessed
through the use of survey questionnaire and data gathered, analyzed so as to get the
output which is effective way to prevent dengue.
STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM

The researchers aim to answer these questions in this study:

1. Profile of the respondents:

1.1 Age

1.2 Sex

13 Address

2. What are the symptoms that you first observed on the dengue victim?
3. What is the first action in your child, that you have done when you noticed the
symptoms of having dengue fever?
4. What do you think could be the main causes of dengue fever to your place?
5. What is the outcome of having dengue fever?
6. What could be the best way to prevent dengue from occurring again?
ASSUMPTION OF THE STUDY

In this research study, the following hypothesis had been formulated:

1. The people will become aware on what are the possible symptoms of dengue.

2. The people will be informed on the best way to prevent dengue.
