Semi-detailed Lesson Plan in Arts 4

I. OBJECTIVES

At the end of a 50 mins period the pupils should be able to:

a) Identifies specific clothing, objects, and design of the cultural communities in Mindanao;
b) uses crayon resist technique in showing different ethnic designs or patterns in
Mindanao; and
c) shares ideas about different culture communities in Mindanao.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

TOPIC: " Design in cultural communities in Mindanao "


REFERENCE:
 Teacher’s Guide IV, p. 201-204

MATERIALS: Pictures, Cartolina, pentel pen, powerpoint presentation, Colors,


and Pencil.
Values Integration: give importance of the different cultural communities in
Mindanao.

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preliminary Activities

1. Prayer
The class will have a prayer.
2. Greetings
The teacher will greet the students and vice versa.
3. Checking of attendance
The teacher will check the attendance.
4. Classroom management
The students will arrange the chairs.

B. Review

The teacher will show the map of the Philippines. The students now will identify which
part of the country does the picture belongs to by drawing lines to the map.
C. Motivation

Show pictures of the different native design that is made by ethnic group in Mindanao.

D. Lesson Proper
Design in cultural communities in Mindanao.

Maranao
- The Maranao inhabit Lanao del Norte and Lanao del Sur in Mindanao. The
name Maranao translates to mean “People of the Lake”, after their traditional
territory in the area surrounding Lake Lanao in the Bukidnon-Lanao
Plateau.Aside from exotic textiles, metalwork, and woodcraft, the torogan
structure is the most significant and spectacular example of Filipino secular
architecture.

T'boli
- One of southern Mindanao’s indigenous people, the T’boli are concentrated in
Kiamba, Maitum, and Surallah in South Cotabato. They are famous for several
things, among them: numerous crafts, such as the casting in brass of human
and animal figures, bells, and metal boxes; elaborate traditional dresses,
especially their ceremonial and festival attire, which is made from tie-dyed
woven abaca cloth called tinalak; and vivacious dances and music.

Yakan
- The Yakans are concentrated in Tipo-tipo , Lamitan, Sumisip, and Tuburan in
the Basilan Island of ARMM. There are also scattered populations on the
islands of Sakol, Malanipa, and Tumalutad east of the Zamboanga Peninsula.
The Yakans are famous for their beautiful weaving and their colorful
traditional clothes and customs.

E. APPLICATION

I. Essay: How can you give pride and appreciate the designs that is made in our native
commuinities?

II. Create a design on your own.

F. GENERALIZATION

The teacher will ask the student about their learning of the lesson.

 Did you understand the topic that we discuss today, class?

 Did you use different colors, shapes, and lines in your designs?
