• Aims at creating awareness about a
specific health theme to highlight an
area of concern

The outbreak of COVID-19 has highlighted the fact that some people are
able to live a better and healthier life than others and our society is in
inequity. This theme calls for the elimination of health inequities.

COVID-19 OUTBREAK
◎ With what started in 2019 as the spread of a virus has now become
one of the most significant crisis the world has faced

◎ The first case of COVID was detected in the Wuhan City in December
2019. Since then the virus has continued to spread across the world

◎ By 11th March 2020, COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic


◎ The outbreak has not only affected the health, but also the economic,
social and political well being of almost all the countries

Coronavirus
• 5.9 million children in the Asia-Pacific Region are at risk of not returning
back to school due to the disruption to education and the economic impact
of the pandemic
