90% students appear for Anna University’s online test

Around 90% of final year students, who sat for the online proctoring test conducted by Anna University on Day 1,

has decided to implement the
‘One Nation One Ration Card’
scheme from Oct. 1 to enable
ration card holders to get their
entitled quota of subsidized
foodgrains from PDS outlets
of their choice anywhere in the
state.
The state will ensure
biometric authentication for
all cardholders in the shops
for getting their monthly
entitlement.
The system will also enable
the cardholders anywhere in
the national cluster to access
their quota of foodgrains
through national portability.
The state has 2.09 crore
cardholders and has allocated
Rs. 6,500 crores towards food
subsidy and Rs. 400 crores
towards cooperatives for
implementing the PDS this
fiscal year. Even as the state
implements the National
Food Security Act (NFSA), it
will continue to retain its
universal PDS, as has been
done in the past four decades
extending subsidized comm-
odities to all sections, with no
income criteria or social status
for monthly entitlement.

A 48-year-old man fell to his
death from the terrace of a two-

He was living alone on the second

22 from a lodge in T. Nagar on the charge of extorting Rs. 15 lakhs from Mohan (Software
Engineer from Adyar). According to the police, Ramesh, Prabhakaran and Mohan were caught
in a cryptocurrency fraud through bitcoins by Naresh.
Naresh had told Prabhakaran and Ramesh that he had Rs. 1 crore worth of bitcoins and was
willing to give 50 percent share if they could find someone to trade and convert them into Indian
currency. The duo persuaded Mohan to open e-wallet accounts promising 1% commission to
complete the transaction and Naresh transferred the bitcoins to the e-wallet account and was
paid Rs. 50 lakhs by Ramesh.
But when Mohan later informed the duo that the bitcoins were worthless, they did not believe
him and demanded payment of Rs. 50 lakhs.When he refused, they threatened him with dire
consequences and extorted Rs. 15 lakhs from him. But when they continued to threaten him,
Mohan approached the cyber cell of Adyar district police.
The accused were handed over to Tiruvanmiyur police.

lockdown has seen the return
of many common birds
including sparrows and
parrots, even in commercial
hubs like T. Nagar.
The common Indian parrot
is now a common sight on the
tall trees that line Pondy
Bazaar, Venkatanarayana
Road, G. N. Chetty Road and
Usman Road.
But bird watchers fear that,
with the increase in traffic and
noise pollution, they might
move back to safer havens.
With the breeding season
on, pairs of parrots can be
sighted building their homes
in hollows created by birds like
woodpeckers or even in high
rise locations on tall buildings.
Beauty has been a bane for
these rose-ringed parakeets

Association urges

nadu government to revise
stamp duty and registration
fee from the existing combined
11% to 4% in view of the crisis
faced by the construction sector
after the outbreak of COVID-
19.
According to a press release,
Maharashtra and Karnataka
governments have reduced
stamp duty and registration
charges drastically to boost the
realty sector.
The Tamilnadu government
should also decrease the stamp
duty and registration fee to
maximum of 4%, it added.

done in Telangana.

start digitisation
drive in October

artefacts. The move is a bid to
secure artefacts and allow glo-
bal art enthusiasts a glimpse

the museum.
The move will also help
India’s second oldest museum
in updating its official portal
with pictures of its rich collec-
tion. The digitisation drive will
cover the accession register, a
record that contains details of
each artefact.
According to museum
sources, the project will take
about six months.

such as age, height, weight,
history of the artefact and
where it was discovered.

Daily recoveries cross new
COVID-19 cases

Even as Tamilnadu recorded 5,337 new COVID-19 cases,
5,406 patients recovered from the infection on Sept. 22.
This is the 1st time since May that the number of recoveries
has exceeded new cases.
Chennai continued to see a downward trend with 989 cases
reported.
The total COVID-19 number of infections in the state has
touched 5,52,674.
76 people succumbed to COVID-19 on Sept. 22, pushing the
death toll in the state to 8,947.
