CHAPTER IV

RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS

In this chapter, the Results from the gathered data was discussed.

The impact of Pandemic in Operation Status in Hotel Sector of Puerto Princesa city using
the percentile rank

Table 1.1 and Figure 1 shows poor operational status when it comes to hotel sector in Puerto
Princesa city. 89% of the regular operation are suspended and the manpower is greatly
affected, the data shows that most of the personnel are affected. 33% of the hotels agreed
to be converted to quarantine facility. Most of the hotels were not sure what are they
going to do with their employees, 78% or 7 out of 9 responded neutral. 56% of the hotel
operators agreed that the room occupancy are limited, working hours, reservation and
bookings is reduced. Due to the continuing effect of pandemic 89% of the hotel
operations was already closed.

Table 1.2. shows that most of the hotels during pandemic are not in operations resulted of
manpower laid- off. Some of the hotels were converted to quarantine facilities to
maintain the daily expenses incurred of the hotels. Office Personnel resorted to work
from home and reduced hours of work to prevent the spreading of virus among personnel
inside the workplace and it limits the quantity of work an employee perform in a day. No
bookings and reservations allowed especially on mass gatherings. Because of this
pandemic some of the hotels were now for closure.

Table 2.1, Table 2.2 and Figure 2 show the impact of pandemic not only to the operations but
also the revenue of the hotel as a whole. As of the date of the survey the loss on revenue of most
of the hotels reached up to 60%-80% which resulted to the closure of the establishments.

Table 3.1 and Figure 3 shows that the only help receive with a 100 % assistance in terms of
financial programs (CAMP 1, CAMP 2 and Small Business wage subsidy or SBWS provided by
the local government to the hotel sector.
